Amazing Improvements On Our Side For Dyn-Dyn

Almost a week ago, I shared how we felt frustrated as we relied too much on the screen to raise our little one. April and I had decided not to have Dyn-Dyn watch her favorite shows, such as Ms. Rachel and Super Simple Songs, and so far we love the results.

If we have spare time, early in the morning we always eat out at Tita Nessie's lugawan and eat a mouthful of porridge. Back then we try to teach Dyn the word kain or to eat in English so that she will be informed that we are now ready to eat.

After getting our order from Tita Nessie, when we say the word Kakain, she babbled the sound and repeatedly said those words too Kakain, and each time that she wants to have another spoonful of porridge she will lead us and utter the words kakain again.

Another improvement that we noticed was when she was thirsty. Back then, she was just waiting for either me or April to fill up our glass and drink. If she notices, she will immediately cry, and that is our cue that we need to give her water. Now, each time that she feels she is thirsty, each time that we eat, she mumbles the words yatei.

We told her the word water if in case she was thirsty and though it is quite short and sometimes hard to comprehend her saying yatei while looking into our eyes means she wants water to drink.

Her eye contact improved too! She was not looking back at us when we call her name but now she is responding and giving gestures. Our relatives also notice that our child is not looking at our cellphone each time they will do a video chat with her. At first, we just told them she may have inherited our snobbish attitude of ours but now, each time that there's a video call, she's looking at the other person and waving hi as a response.

April and I had discussed that we will continue on this approach and spend more time playing with Dyn. Earlier this morning, since I was in the market area I scanned around and look for toys that we will use for our play.

The lady at the store keep on staring at me as I stood on the shelf for quite some time. Since I cannot decide on what to buy, I bought everything. Kidding aside I consider stuff such as the size of every toy around per information these toys are for 3+ years old and since Dyns nearing two years they are not age appropriate. I just made sure that the parts of the toys are bigger than her mouth, since she is still putting whatever she wants to put in her mouth that will be the best call.

I did pick the mini dentist set, because of the stethoscope included as Dyn's fixated on our stethoscope each time we check April's blood pressure and the rest are the mini kitchen set with a spoon and some fruit toys.

She's just throwing the dentist set toys on the ground, but for the food set toys, each time that she will feed us she will utter the words yummy which is the direct word for yummy.

Overall, as we spend more time with Dyn, we keep on noticing new things that we haven't noticed before. Maybe we are too busy with other stuff as a parent hence we forgot to have more time with her and now she is showing progress. It was never too late to make some changes and we are glad that we did.
