Each time that people will ask when is our wedding anniversary I mention it is the 29th of February. Some will just say ahhhh but most of the time they will ask again if I am sure of it because there's no 29 on February. Then again, there is, but not this year. By 2024, there will be as it is a leap year.

Because of that, we don't celebrate it that often. Sometimes we celebrate it on the 28 of February, sometimes the 1st of March, or whichever weekend it falls, or if I filed time off.

This year we celebrated it on the 28th, I should have posted this a few weeks ago already but then again I was busy with some stuff and I haven't finished this draft. nah I am just lazy to do it and compile everything

The Plan

April and I talked if we will bring DynDyn to our date. As last year we did not bring her. we just ate our food and hurriedly went home. We had discussed that going outside is beneficial for our little one plus since she wants to roam around everywhere, we cannot leave her for too long.

Since we agreed to bring her in, we cannot go that far. As I scoured some restaurants in the vicinity I can't find anything that piques my interest so I just told her we will just go to Sampaloc Lake and then whatever open restaurant that we, that we haven't eaten yet there we will eat.

Eh Kape

We reached Sampaloc Lake at around 11 in the morning. It is lunchtime and students from a campus nearby are also going outside to take their lunch. The food park is packed with some students who are eating and as we check further, we notice a cafe wherein there are no customers eating.

The cafe had a homey vibe which made me feel relaxed while sitting. The wind is too strong in the area and the windows are just open for ventilation. I planned for us to sit in the wooden chairs that have a small glass table in front but opted not to. Dyn has been picking on the glass tables and we might pay for some damages if in case that she accidentally damaged them.

It is as if we rented the whole place! We are just walking around the entire area while waiting for our order to be served.

On the shelves nearby we saw some organic products from honey, coffee, soaps, etc but what we stared and consider buying is the bugnay wine. I told April I am planning to buy one so that I have stock around our home in case we want to drink something during weekends and she said yes. But after checking the price I backed off and said that I will just buy it next time.

Since we went to the place during day time, the lights are not yet lit. It makes me wonder what are the effects of the lights with some colored bottles covering them but I will just leave everything in my imagination for now.

The menu isn't quite rich; they have pasta and sandwiches but we just chose the safest which is a burger. We have limited food choices because of Dyn's sensitivity to poultry.

But why there's fried chicken here?

I am the one who ate it! I am not breastfeeding so I can still eat whatever I want but April she can't. Judge me as a bad father because I eat chicken in front of them but I don't care. A chicken is a chicken.

We waited for around twenty minutes to get our orders. Here's how I reviewed the food that we ordered.

Fries:

There's nothing special with the fries, it has the same taste as the one's that I buy in the market. How did I know? Because the kitchen is just around the corner so I see the stuff going out from their fridge. The cheese sauce is bland, it felt that more water was added to the mix hence losing the taste. Plus I prefer mayonnaise over cheese in my fries. Ladies Choice or Magnolia brand to be precise if other brands such as Bestfoods and other local unnamed stuff I do not.

Chicken

It was crispy on the outside and juicy! I like the taste as I can savor the marinade that was done, there's a bit of spice which is okay and it was cooked well. No blood can be seen and from the skin up to the meat all are delish. Or maybe I am exaggerating too much? Since I haven't had a chicken for months maybe I put this dish on a pedestal. Welp, it was good I can say.

Refreshments

The iced tea was excellent too! I think this is a house-blend flavor the one that can be bought in online shops if you crave KFC iced tea. The serving is big with lots of ice on it. The frappe was too sweet. Yeah, that is all that I can comment on the food as we didn't finish it.

Burgers

There's lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese, and the patty is probably around 1/2 pound. It was salty on my tastebuds but April said that it was good. We ordered the same food btw it's just that I have fried chicken on the side. The dressing was honey-mustard, it was sweet and perfectly mixed. I would assume that it is Clara Ole's honey mustard or maybe other brands, or probably it is made by them I don't know. Without the dressing, I probably would not eat the burger as it was salty, it balanced the dish with its sweetness.

Afterthoughts

Once eating our orders and having a few minutes rest, we bid goodbye and April and I talked about not eating in the same location again and added it to the shops that I wouldn't want to. It is an internal family joke, as I am a picky eater and scrutinize every cafe or restaurant that we visit since we are dating.

The ambiance was good, and it was spacious. Maybe their coffee is okay but food nah... I didn't order coffee that day as I already had my 3rd cup already at home. Palpitation is good, but looking for a place to take a dump if we are outside will be a hassle.
