Chasing the rainbow, not the moon - LOH #67

avatar

The Minoan civilization flourished in the island of Crete, and we are talking about a civilization that took place about 4.000 years ago and ended around 1100 BC. It is well known for many things, but what I would like to point out today is the remarkable position of the woman. During these 900 years, women not only were treated equally to men but they had a lead role in athletic, social and religious events. Well, not all women, the wealthy women. The poor women, as well as the poor men, had to face their fate... I guess this has never changed and will never change if the whole world will not be built on new foundations.

source Their love for nature and beauty is quite obvious I think. As well as their respect to woman. Always with the breasts uncovered as a way to honor motherhood. mural 1.600BC

What is the position of the woman now in the island? Well, many families are still matriarchal, but this just means that in the house all the important decisions are taken by the older woman who is in charge and well respected, but the whole society outside each house has followed the rest of the world putting woman in a wicker position.
I think this example of this small part of the planet shows that evolution is not always linear, but it has ups and downs, back and forth...

Growth is a never ending process.

Why am I telling you all these? Well, this post is my reply to one of the two questions by Ladies of Hive this week:

Throughout history, women have had to defend our rights, from wearing pants to voting. In your opinion, what still needs to be achieved?

While many things seem to have been improved, as well as the position of woman in various parts of the planet, the problem, as I see it, is the general decadance and greed of humankind. We talk about evolution, but if we carefully think about it we see the incredible technological leap that has been made, while humanity has changed so little in comparison. On the contrary I think we are losing victories we had for granted.

What must be done? I guess that we should focus on self love, self care and self respect. All of us! Not only women, men also. Kids and elders.
I can't easily distinguish men and women when I think of the bigger picture in my mind. I can very easily see how differently men and women are treated when it comes to everyday life though and the inequity and injustice drive me mad. But I am dreaming big now and I don't want to stop!

female-dress-in-palatial_greece_lifo-10-.jpg
source Self care was a nesecity. They were using all kind of herb and flower extracts and were making all sorts of oils.
Self care goes hand in hand with self love and self respect.

What I have noticed is that when someone is satisfied and full, feels whole and calm, then has no reason to be injustice and unkind to others, doesn't feel the need to show his power or superiority. Is just fine.

What if all parents, teachers, the whole society was focused on teaching girls to be strong, resistant, creative, patient, sensitive, kind, tender, with open hearts full of love and boys to be strong, resistant, creative, patient, sensitive, kind, tender, with open hearts full of love? We all share female and male qualities, it's just a matter of how to balance them in us and become wonderful creatures.

And we shouldn't stay silent. Whenever someone talks without respect for another, we should talk, make them know that this is not accepted. I was surprised to see how many guys have been brought up as absolute jerks because they have never seen a different reality than the one of their abusing family and macho friends, they had created a microcosm where they wrongly felt different and superior. This is simply not accepted!
Isolate them if they don't show respect. Might be the uncle in the family table saying the same dismissive things for years, but he is family and no one talks.

And support any of us, not only when needed, but always! We are all one!

I wish we were taught how we are all made out of the same ingredients. Even the tiniest grain of sand... And this leads me to the second question that I didn't have in mind to answer:

Elon Musk announced that the first mission to Mars will be in 2026. It will be the first manned trip, which implies risks and uncertainties such as not being able to return to earth. Even with this uncertainty, would you like to be the first woman to make this kind of space trip?
Explain your answer!

There is so much more to learn and feel, why bother traveling to the moon? Why always wanting to do something new and then run to the next wow project. I want to live the Now here the best way I can.

The following photo represents in a way all the above. We chase the rainbow, the beauty and the kindness, in this wild world.

The photo was taken on my early morning walk. It was raining in the sea. There was so much darkness around. And the colors of the rainbow were so bright!

I would like to invite @sally-notbright! Please don't feel obliged, join only if you are in the mood for taking part :)

Oh yes. How things could be so different if we all raised children with love, care, compassion, light. No one that feels self love CAN be destructive because they are not playing out their wounds on the world stage.

I really loved this post, in fact, I think it's really amazing we were both looking at ancestral woman as we wrote our responses.

Such a beautiful piece!!! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts..

It is absolutely amazing and makes so much sense, doesn't it?
As you say in your very special story:

she could feel them in her cells. An ancestral memory.

I was thinking of the first mural when I was reading your description, wonderful synchronicity!

So glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for supporting and reblogging :)

Even when one is not satisfied, not full, doesn't feel whole, isn't calm... there is no reason for injustices and unkindness. That is a rational used by some people to show power over others and they are excused?
Thanks for sharing, @traisto.
Good luck with the contest!

So wonderful to read your thoughts on this. I especially like the part about teaching male and female to be the attributes of both, of good people. Thanks for sharing!

Love this comment, not only women, but also men, children and the elderly. There is so much wisdom in your words. For example if we were to ask what you think about the mistreatment of men, I'm sure there would be a lot of things to cut!

I want to live the Now here the best way I can.

You know what you want and you are blessed to see it reflected in the spectacular rainbow you have given us.

I wish for the same thing, Fotini. It would help us to understand and know ourselves better. We would love everyone with our warm hearts, understand other pains and suffer, and develop love for everything in this beautiful planet.

Thank you for sharing and all the best with the contest

Thank you for your lovely comment!
The world would be different for sure! Hopefully this will happen sometime and next generations will look at us as we see the Middle Ages or worse, haha!

Beautiful response @traisto. What it all comes down to is self love and respect and then everything can stem from that, including equality. Loved to read about the history of Crete as well. Ireland was also one of the last matriarchal communities in Europe. Right now, we need a balance of both xxx

Thank you @trucklife-family for your beautiful input! No matter how far we go, we always need the basics in order to move further, love and respect. How interesting the history of Ireland! I think paganism was the main belif there, too, right? All paganistic cultures are so interesting and share so much in common, because it is wisdom coming from the deep connection with the earth. xxx
