My sanctuary. Open horizon and the beautiful view of Acronafplia.

The oldest part of the city of Nafplio is called Acronafplia. It was the Acropolis of the city and the first traces go back to the 4th century B.C.

I am not going to talk about history. You can feel it in every step, the energy of the place is so strong. And the view is just amazing. It is one of my very favorite places to sit and relax. Especially this view to the South, overlooking the cozy beach of Arvanitia, is so calming.

By the way, I had my 6th swim there yesterday. The water was fantastic :)
Can you see how small it is at the photo below, left corner? But magic! This is 5' walking distance from the city center and this is where we were swimming after school when we were kids :)

When I read about this week's theme of Qurator's Photo Contest by @qurator is "Horizon" I knew exactly what place I wanted to talk about. My sanctuary.

This is how the water looks from above! And you can see part of the path that goes around Acronafplia, starting from the beach of Arvanitia and heading to the harbor.

There are parts of the fortress everywhere. Very useful for romantic couples. If you spot the young couple, you can have an idea of the size as well!

@fotostef is quite easy to spot :)

The sun was falling over the reddish rocks. That is another route going from Arvanitia beach to Karathona beach. A wonderful walk about an hour long. Of course there is also another way that you can go by car in a few minutes :)

IMG_5742.jpg
From the same spot you can see the castle of Palamidi and its 999 stairs leading to the top, according to the legend.

I stayed for quite some time to that point as you can see from the light and the colors changing from one photo to another.

Here is the old Clock of the city. Once very useful, now, it doesn't even say the right time!

IMG_5756.jpg

Looking at the North, under the Clock, is the old city. The big round building that you see was the first parliament of Greece. In front of it, you can see part of the central square.

Actually there is beauty all around this place and this a walk I never miss every time I am here :)

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

Hello @traisto
I felt relaxed just looking at these photos.
The view is absolutely stunning and you captured it nicely. I like the contrast of the sparsely dotted bay area, with the old city centre and the stone walls are beautiful too:)))

Some parts of the water even looks nice and clear from up there.

Yes, the water is AMAZING! Even though still quite cold since we had a very cold April and now all the snow from the mountains has just melted in the sea :) Thank you @ace108!

This place is indeed sublime. For a brief instant, it felt like I was there. Where the sky meets the sea. How clear it is to see the water from where you were standing at the fortress, so beautiful!
