Well, today's news come. Kojima's new game got leaked, it seems, and it's not a Death Stranding sequel. No, while the footage that was shown was pretty blurry, one thing can be certain that it stars Margaret Qualley, and that it's a new horror game called Overdose.

Yeah, this could be the long rumored Xbox exclusive title that Hideo Kojima had been working on for a while now. Not only that, the name logo drop some references to Silent Hill, the cancelled project of Kojima's. So it could be in some case that this is where he takes everything he's worked on from Silent Hill and taking the concepts into his new game. Sounds like a great way to get back at Konami, but also finished what he left behind.

Shock And Awe

This was something people very much remember because it was news that shocked gaming culture. In 2014, a P.T demo was released by Kojima. No one knew what was going on, so playing the demo, there was a lot to uncover. Spooky ghost stories, stories under stories, subtle references, and a trip ride to hell, literally. Before the puzzle was fully uncovered and player who solved it, got a treat to watch the new trailer of Silent Hills.

Yeah, no, that was Kojima trying to screw around with Konami. So they gave him the boot and cancelled the game. Even not letting him finish Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain before the game was done. The last act rewrite ruined the game, absolutely.

Kojima would later go to find Kojima Productions, with the name being the same, it was a recreated studio under the funding of Sony. So that they could work on their new game, Death Stranding. Death Stranding wasn't a commercially viable game, but it sold well. The game retained a majority of horror elements from both MGSV and Silent Hills. But Kojima never went all in, until now that is.

A New Terror Arrives

The leaked footage shows the game being played by Qualley in both first-person and third-person view. She walks around in what can be described as dark-corriders with her flashlight. It then cuts to a game over, and then the title fading in before shrinking to the background with Hideo Kojima's name above.

There's not much detail elsewhere, but when the article was published, soon after Kojima Productions requested that it was taken down. This speaks in some volume about the validity of these claims and the leak.

Also, there's that rumor that Microsoft signed Kojima in to make a game for them. I mean, Kojima is now a freelance game creator, with a studio backing him. Now, if the game could make a great Silent Hills successor, this would take everything Kojima has conceptualized with Guillermo Del Toro and some inspirations from Junji Ito of course, it'll make me and a bunch of people really satisfied. Rekindle that spark that was left back in 2014, no thanks to Konami.

What a time to be alive, Kojima is really hitting his strides and finally giving us some crazy good stuff. Say what you will about Death Stranding, but that was a benchmark of what he can envision his games will be.

Even if the game doesn't turn out to be an Xbox exclusive, I hope the game exists. I would really love to see Kojima bringing something even close to what he worked for in 2014. I tip my hat off to this zeitgeist of gaming culture itself.

I can't see the game being an Xbox exclusive. I can see it maybe being a Microsoft exclusive.

And if it turns out to not be coming out on Playstation, a lot of people are going to be pissed xD

To be honest, I don't think Kojima is that biased towards platform exclusivity. I think Microsoft is providing him enough funding for this one to be done.

The whole P.T. thing was a bit of a scratch in both Konami's and Kojima's name. I really like Kojima's style and it's great to see it's not compromised right now, but if he is too strong at his, companies can just decline his works. I don't wanna think they would tho, Kojima is kind of a proven concept, but that doesn't mean much.
