Green - TRAVEL CONTEST #163 and winners from CONTEST #158 - Life

Hi, travelers and photo lovers!

You are kindly invited to take part in TRAVEL CONTEST's theme today "Green" :)

Feel free to interpret the theme in every way you like, hopefully more people will be inspired, motivated and challenged to join this contest round!

  1. One entry per person.
  2. To enter, upload your photo(s) and text into the comment section below. There's no need to create a separate post.
  3. In order to be considered, an entry should consist of at least one photo and your personal story/info/memory.
  4. All the photos you use to enter the contest must be your own and taken by yourself.
  5. All the text you enter must be written by yourself in English.
  6. Deadline: One week starting from the datetime of the contest announcement.
  7. No NSFW content.

Prizes:

  • One Winner will be set as 40% beneficiary of the post including the winners announcement.
  • One Honorable Mention will be set as 10% beneficiary of the post including the winners announcement.
  • All winning and mentioned accounts will be followed, periodically reviewed and their best works upvoted.

What an interesting photograph. Most certainly fits with the "Green" theme of this contest. I see a repetitious line of leaves... The first thing that comes to mind was a cup of green tea. but that's just my mind's eye trying to discern the image. Zooming in, the level of detail is quite amazing. I am curious about what type of camera you used, to take this stunning photograph... and just what the story is, or what the theme was you had in mind. Best of luck in the contest!

thank you for the wonderful words.
for taking this image i used an old manual Asahi 50mm f1.4 lens attached to my DSLR camera.
i believe i photographed it on f1.4 due to the deep DOF i got when compressed the lines of the leaves. :-)

How awesome that is! I've never had a decent camera. Just an old Canon PowerShot that I got for my fiance year's ago. I guess I thought it was something more than a entry level. But she loves it!

I use my Galaxy S9 or BLUG91 Pro. It's funny, really. For a device that's meant to make phone calls... they are used for so much more!

A lovely (and very stinging surely) caterpillar of some kind of tropical moth, looks to me like it belongs to the genus Automeris, but it's hard to pinpoint the exact species for me.

Stingy, indeed! It would seem this caterpillar was a tad shy lol... But my goodness; all you need to do, is zoom in and see the many water droplets. What a fantastic photograph you have here! Quite the change, from your fabulous Black & White photographs, we all know and love. Best of luck with the contest!

This was a photograph I took back in August 2019. While "traveling" around in the yard checking on our various plants and flowers. As I was looking to see if there was any poison ivy before I started sticking my hands in there, I happened to see this Daddy Longlegs (Harvestmen) and wanted to try and get a closer look. Keep in mind, this was back before my MS had gotten bad enough, that I couldn't get down on my knees and elbows to get this photo...


These little things get such a bad rap because so many people don't like spiders. Even though, they aren't really spiders. Though the legend goes something like, "They are the most poisonous spiders in the world. They just have a tiny mouth", is the farthest from the truth... You can see this described in the Missouri Department of Conservation site. From the "Description":

Most of us are familiar with the common, harmless, spiderlike “harvestman,” with its remarkably long, wiggly legs. We can easily see differences between harvestmen and spiders. The body is a simple oval, and it’s usually hard to tell where the “head” ends and the segmented “abdomen” begins. They also lack silk and venom glands, and they only have two eyes.


It's kind of hard for them to be the most poisonous spider when they have no "venom glands" 😄 Regardless... I felt this photograph would fit nicely, for this contest. Thank you for taking the time to read this comment!

Why thank you... I am in so many places; I try to make an attempt to balance all my communities, discord servers, and social media sites... while still taking care of my own community. Never an easy task lol.

Would you happen to mean...sourcing? I didn't think I added any tags... I do usually put in my relevant TAGS in a main post. Didn't think it would be appropriate in this regard...

That's a nice touch and a great way to make traffic light more lively.
I've seen a red light with the shape of a heart in one town in Iceland :)
