Abalone Rice Porridge Recommendation

Hi Everyone,

We are heading towards winter and the weather has been pretty unstable, some days you get warm sunny days, and some days the temperature drops. Lots of people get sick around this time of the year so it is also the time I find ways to keep myself warm so I don't get sick. I find once I get sick beginning of the season, the rest of the season I don't feel 100% so I try to stay warm as possible. This also means no more salad or sandwich lunches and change it to a warm lunch.

Recently I was at Eastwood and came across a nice variety of instant congee at the Korean stores. Unlike the Asian stores in my area, the Korean stores there have a huge variety of products and I found this Abalone Rice Porridge. I love porridge, the catch is it takes very long to make so I tend to just wait for mum to make them and bring them over to my place. Now with this new instant version, I am hoping I can still have some yummy porridge on a cold day without waiting for mum to come over.

When we were in Korea, we had some really good abalone porridge so I was hoping that this one would at least give me that feeling. Surprisingly, the texture is pretty good, with lots of nice flavour and loads of mushrooms and abalone. Although it is not as good as the freshly made ones in Korea, for an instant version, it was enough. You can eat the content in the microwave or cook it over a stove which will be equally as good. The only downside is that the pack was pretty small so I had to cook a side dish to keep myself full and I'm not a big eater. This would be a perfect size for supper or breakfast in the morning. I'm glad I have found an alternative and I intend to try the other flavours when we go to that store again.
