Coronavirus in Australia Past 200 Cases - Travelgirl Work From Home As Of Monday~

Hi Everyone,

The first thing received this morning from a WhatsApp message was a friend to tell us don't head over to the shops. This was 9 am! Apparently the mainstream supermarkets are chaotic to a point you need to wait over an hour to pay for your grocery. Yes, 1 hour wait! I look out the window and the weather was super gloomy, no plans to go out anyways except for a potential book fair which we decided to go tomorrow (big maybe actually).

More businesses are advising their employees to work from home as of Monday to make sure everyone is safe in particular those taking public transports. I also got an email from work to advise I will be working from home as of Monday until further notice. Big companies like Apple also advised that they will be closing all stores except China till the end of March. This is new to many of us around the world including myself so we just play by everything day by day.

Back to panic buying, I haven't done any since my last haul last week as I figure I don't want to be with the crowds and could potentially go one lunchtime to do a big shop when maybe some people are still at work. Around the world, there is a shortage of toilet paper (TP), hand soap and hand sanitisers so maybe we have to explore making them ourselves (minus the TP). I will also look into growing my own stuff in our small garden now after speaking to a colleague about self-managing food if anything goes wrong. We already have some lime trees and strawberries growing in the yard we need more than that.

Have you made any plans for your daily life due to this outbreak?

800 in denmark, mostly in copenhagen :/ wats the logic of buying all TP and handsanatizer. you still rely on other people washing their hands if you want to stay healthy. theres also absolutely no rice pasta or potatoes in the supermarket while i see families and pregnant women not able to find the food they need.

i have been hamster shopping on beer. its back in my natural instincts. beer was the one drinkable food/liquid that people could drink even back in the days when europeans were unable to separate drinkingwater from excrements. since there were also no more vegetables in the supermarket i had to buy canned vagetables :/ but limited my self to buying maximum 3 of each item (except beer).

for some people, its hard to get the daily shopping done and don't want to visit the shops every day just to get basic food. Our government is not giving us the assurance that everything is under control, hence why people are just blindly buying in case we have a lockdown

take care

For the pass few days, we are having more than 10 cases though it seems life outside still have people going about things on a Saturday. There are less people out than usual noticeably. Things may get interesting because there's speculation of an election happening soon.
