Our Donation For Grandfriends Day 2020

Hi Everyone,

Around a month ago, Baby E’s school held a Grandfriends Day which is to get school students to choose a book from a book list chosen by the school library, purchase it and donate it back to the school for students to borrow each week. Once the books are ready, the donor will be the first ones to borrow the books and be able to read them with their family. It’s a great cause and we ended up choosing 2 books and today we received the two books we donated to the school. A special note, I never knew what Grandfriends day was and my understanding is it is celebrating Grandparents day but some families may not have grandparents around so they made it as Grandfriends so everyone can be part of this celebration.

For each book you donate, the school will stick on the name of the donor and the year it was purchased. It’s such a great feeling to be able to contribute to the school, the students are benefiting from your choice of books and Baby E feels like he has made a great choice for his peers. I’ve never had that opportunity when I was at school so it’s a great way to be part of a place you spend 7 years (Kindy to Year 6).

The two books we chosen was ‘I Love The World’ which is a book about anything about the world. Since we can’t travel now, we will rely on books to let our kids the culture of different countries, language, history, animals and so on. It’s a wonderful book and I’m glad we chose it.

The second book is called ‘Katt vs Dogg’. We didn’t realise this book was for young adults and Baby E chose it based on the cover as he thought it was cute both animals was there. Unfortunately he won’t be able to read it but I probably read it myself and read one chapter for him to he knows what the story is about. Although the books does have many words, it is suitable for year 4 onwards with some cute pictures of the story along the way. It is our first year participating in this program, we can’t wait to see what else we can do to contribute to the school and know the kids will enjoy and benefit from it for years to come.
