Hi everybody, this is my first time here which is weird because I enjoy watching movies all the time, it's like my little hobby.
If you like movies that are based on true life stories, then you'll definitely like this one. If you like good movies in general, you'll like this one too. Whenever I see movies that have some sort of genius character, I immediately want to watch it. You know when you see a movie and it seems boring and one part and seems interesting at another? This one isn't like that, it'll have you hooked throughout. I found this movie while I was searching for interesting movies to watch and I fortunately stumbled upon it on Google. I quickly saw the trailer and I instantly knew it was going to be a great movie.

It stars the famous Taraji P. Henson as Katherine Johnson in the movie along with some other stars that you've come across in other blockbuster like Janelle Monáe from 'Ma'.

Released in 2016, Hidden figures got nominated for best picture and was rated by the National Review Board as one of the top 10 movies of 2016 and I totally agree with them. The actors and actresses gave an outstanding performance. You can never hate any movie Taraji Henson. For those of you don't know who she is, she starred as Cookie Lyon in the empire series and
Melinda Gayle in Tyler Perry's "Acrimony".

ABOUT THE MOVIE

Three African American women, Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson and Dorothy Vaughan work at a space research centre in Hampton Virginia. The year is 1961. Katherine is assigned to a special task group because she is a genius when it comes to calculations. She becomes the first black woman on the team and is immediately dismissed by her colleagues.

Mary wants to become and engineer but she is told women don't become engineers and ontop of that, shes a black woman. This doesn't stop her, she works hard to prove everybody wrong and starts working towards becoming and engineer.

Dorothy strives to become head supervisor but had been dismissed so many times. She learns NASA is installing a calculating machine so she teaches herself how to operate it.

The three women work hard in their respective fields. Katherine's genius pushes her to new heights as she's allowed to attend classified meetings. She still has the problem of being accepted by her colleagues, some of them won't even use the coffee mug she uses. Later on, human computers are no longer needed for work at NASA because they were replaced by real computer which NASA claimed were more efficient than them. The computer malfunctions on the day of the launch, it is up to Katherine and the team to save the day thereby making history in the process. The movie ends with the real life photos of all the characters in the movie.

MY OPINION

First off, I love movies that are based on true life stories and to watch three African-American women thrive in a society where people were judged by skin colour was totally awesome. Taraji Henson did a marvelous job as always, I can't seem to remember the last time I saw a bad movie she was in. The movie is also scientifically accurate, the math, the rocket science, everything. There are so many emotional scenes in the movie, scences we're these women broke out of the confinement of society and thrived.

I pretty much enjoyed the storyline, it just showed that if you work hard enough, you too can thrive where all odds have been placed against you. So many lessons to be learnt in this movie, one of them movie being to never give up on your dreams no matter how many people will tell you they are not good enough. Your dreams are never too big .It was fun to see how everybody realised later on that it doesn't matter what skin colour you wear, the truth is we are all human beings and life will be better if we just lived in peace.

I still have to talk about Taraji Hansen's acting. She was an excellent cast for this movie and I can't imagine the work she put into learning those mathematical equations. I was pretty impressed with the way she worked through all those. The movie has a happy ending, it is definitely the ending with deserved which is cool because the storyline wasn't fiction it was based on events that happened in real time.

The movie shows what the power of teamwork can do and it helps most times when you are surrounded by people who understand your gifts and push you to do better. I also got this women advocating for women vibe. I leave you with this from the movie, "always push to advocate for yourself". Prior to Katherine working at NASA, women we're not allowed to attend testflight meetings but all that changed after she did a good job there. She practically change the course of history at NASA for not just women but also people of colour. This was an amazing movie, I loved it all the way. it is definitely something I will see over and over and over again.
I highly recommend this movie, I'm definitely giving it an 8/10.

Hola a todos, esta es mi primera vez aquí, lo cual es raro porque disfruto viendo películas todo el tiempo, es como mi pequeño pasatiempo. Si te gustan las películas basadas en historias de la vida real, definitivamente te gustará esta. Si te gustan las buenas películas en general, esta también te gustará. Cada vez que veo películas que tienen algún tipo de carácter genial, inmediatamente quiero verlas. ¿Sabes cuando ves una película y parece aburrida en una parte y parece interesante en otra? Este no es así, te enganchará todo el tiempo. Encontré esta película mientras buscaba películas interesantes para ver y, afortunadamente, la encontré en Google. Rápidamente vi el tráiler y al instante supe que iba a ser una gran película.

SOBRE LA PELÍCULA

MI OPINIÓN

En primer lugar, me encantan las películas basadas en historias de la vida real y ver a tres mujeres afroamericanas prosperar en una sociedad donde las personas eran juzgadas por el color de la piel fue totalmente increíble. Taraji Henson hizo un trabajo maravilloso como siempre, parece que no puedo recordar la última vez que vi una mala película en la que ella estaba. La película también es científicamente precisa, las matemáticas, la ciencia espacial, todo. Hay tantas escenas emocionales en la película, escenas en las que estas mujeres escaparon del confinamiento de la sociedad y prosperaron.

Disfruté mucho de la historia, solo mostró que si trabajas lo suficientemente duro, también puedes prosperar donde todas las probabilidades están en tu contra. Tantas lecciones que aprender en esta película, una de ellas es nunca renunciar a tus sueños, sin importar cuántas personas te digan que no son lo suficientemente buenos. Tus sueños nunca son demasiado grandes. Fue divertido ver cómo todos se dieron cuenta más tarde de que no importa el color de piel que uses, la verdad es que todos somos seres humanos y la vida sería mejor si viviéramos en paz.

Todavía tengo que hablar sobre la actuación de Taraji Hansen. Ella fue un excelente elenco para esta película y no puedo imaginar el trabajo que hizo para aprender esas ecuaciones matemáticas. Me impresionó bastante la forma en que trabajó en todos esos. La película tiene un final feliz, definitivamente es un final merecido, lo cual es genial porque la historia no era ficción, estaba basada en eventos que sucedieron en tiempo real.

La película muestra lo que puede hacer el poder del trabajo en equipo y ayuda la mayoría de las veces cuando estás rodeado de personas que entienden tus dones y te empujan a hacerlo mejor. También obtuve a estas mujeres abogando por la vibra de las mujeres. Los dejo con esto de la película, "empújese siempre para defenderse a sí mismo". Antes de que Katherine trabajara en la NASA, a las mujeres no se nos permitía asistir a las reuniones de vuelos de prueba, pero todo eso cambió después de que ella hizo un buen trabajo allí. Prácticamente cambió el curso de la historia en la NASA no solo para las mujeres sino también para las personas de color. Esta fue una película increíble, me encantó todo el camino. definitivamente es algo que veré una y otra y otra vez. Recomiendo encarecidamente esta película, definitivamente le doy un 8/10.
