A KIND FRIENDSHIP -CREATIVE-NON-FICTION

I met Mercy when I was between the ages of 11 and 12 and moved to live with my aunt in a different state. At first, I didn't think we could be friends because of the circumstances surrounding her, but whenever we had the chance to visit each other, we always sat and talked. I really don't know why we became friends, but I knew we always found comfort with each other.

When I left to go visit my parents, I would always call to see how she was doing. Since I stayed with my aunt for a while before returning home to stay with my parents, we continued to be friends even at a point when we lost contact. Her aunt was constantly mistreating her without cause, and because I have a great deal of sympathy for people, I always felt bad whenever I saw the way she was being treated.

Even then, she was always concerned for others, including the aunty children. Despite the woman's mistreatment of her, she always took excellent care of the aunty kids and never showed any signs of annoyance toward them. Instead, she always referred to them as her siblings.

ONE THING I CAN NEVER FORGET

So, one night last year, I was sleeping in my bed with my phone under me. My phone had malfunctioned when I woke up the following morning because I had slept on it, which caused the screen to revert back. I was in a panic since I needed my phone to function and didn't have enough cash on me to fix it. My mind finally recalled that there was only one buddy I could call for help. She never asked for payback, which astonished me, and I was thrilled because it is uncommon these days for someone to gift you such a significant quantity of money without expecting anything in return.

She currently resides with me, and I help out with babysitting when she goes to work. She had just completed her studies and was 31 weeks and 2 days along when she found out she was expecting her daughter. Although I was upset at the moment, I was the first person she contacted, and I later provided her with advice on how to take care of herself until the kid was fully developed.

She assists me in caring for my own children anytime I go out or even if I am present and need some alone time. She is a wonderful assistant to me, as I am to her. She possesses a lot of positive traits, including kindness, caring, a nice attitude, and a love of going above and beyond to make others feel at ease despite not having any of her own.

We have remained friends and will do so till death do us part. I realize this is a bit of an overstatement, but given the length of our friendship—over 12 to 13 years—I am confident that we will continue to be friends.

Mercy and I get along well, and she thinks highly of me. We will always be the closest of friends, notwithstanding our disagreements.
