The Note In The Bottle.

The day started like any day out with friends but then it ended up being one of those stories that would stay with them forever....

“Omo this sun is too hot!" Tola complained as she put on her sunglasses and stepped carefully on the sand.

Femi laughed. "You are the one who said we should come early now you are complaining?”

Beside them Amara just smiled quietly taking in the view of the beach, It was her idea to take a break from everything and just relax for the day.

“Guys let’s just enjoy this moment " she said.

The beach was lively filled with kinds of people, children were running around music was playing somewhere in the distance, the waves kept crashing against the shore.

After walking for a while the three of them settled close to the water.

“This place makes sense " Femi said, stretching his legs.

Tola nodded. "At least for today no stress.”

For a moment everything was calm.

Then Amara noticed something.

“Wait… what’s that?" she said, pointing toward the edge of the water.

Femi squinted. "Where?”

“that thing the wave just pushed.”

Femi stood up quickly. "I will go check.”

As he got closer he bent down. Picked it up.

“Omo it’s a bottle " he called out.

Tola stood up immediately. "Bottle? Like a bottle?”

Femi shook it lightly. "Something is inside.”

That was enough to pull them both

“Open it!" Tola said excitedly.

“Relax first " Femi replied, examining it.

The bottle looked old like it had been in the water for a time, The cap was tight and sand had settled around it.

After struggling with it for a bit Femi finally opened it.

He turned the bottle down and carefully pulled out a folded piece of paper.

The excitement suddenly turned into curiosity.

“Read it " Tola urged.

Femi unfolded the paper slowly.

“Hope it is not a prank " he muttered before clearing his throat.

He began to read.

“If you are reading this then it means someone finally found this message. My name is Ada, I don’t know who you are. I need you to hear this…”

The three of them exchanged glances.

“This is serious " Tola whispered.

Femi continued.

“I came to this beach with someone I trusted. Someone I believed in with my heart.. I realized too late that not everyone you trust is truly for you…”

Amara’s smile faded.

“Continue " she said softly.

“If you ever find yourself loving someone deeply please be careful. Some people hide their selves very well…”

Femi paused for a second then kept going.

“I don’t know what will happen after this but if this message reaches anyone just know that I tried to leave a warning behind…”

There was silence.

The sound of the waves suddenly felt louder, than before.

Tola folded her arms. "This is not funny again.”

Femi looked up from the paper. "Do you people think this thing is real?”

Amara didn’t answer immediately. She just kept staring at the note.

“Read the rest " she finally said.

Femi looked back at the paper his voice now lower.

“If you find this please… don’t ignore it. Sometimes the signs are there but we choose not to see them…”

He stopped reading.

Nobody spoke for a seconds.

The same beach that felt fun and lively moments ago suddenly felt different.

“Omo…" Tola finally said, shaking her head. "This one is not a beach outing.”

Femi carefully folded the paper back.

“Whoever wrote this… I hope she’s okay " he said quietly.

Amara looked at the ocean, her expression

Because somehow that one small note had turned a day at the beach into something none of them would forget anytime soon.

Sometimes we are ignorant unknowingly and it is very dangerous.
That feeling when you think you are doing the right thing but intentionally ignore the signs and red flags.
And that's because we love and trust deeply.
If Ada had seen the signs earlier, she would have prevent bad situations.

And sometimes we see the signs but the heart want what it wants and refuses to acknowledge what the eyes had seen.

That note passed a strong message.
A lot of people have a scent to drop about trust issue.

Some people heal and learn to trust again while some people couldn't heal at all.
Why?
Not just partners, fake friend and families too.
We all need to be careful.

With the way the story went it leaves a lot of blanks as to what later happened. What the friends discovered did it affect their friendship. Nice piece.

Interesting piece!
Love and romance blinds us in ways we can't imagine. We just have to create a balance, as the only way to know if you can trust someone is to trust them.

Could it be that the other person was kidnapped or what? People should not be trusted.

A small message in a bottle with such a clear and profound meaning, carrying the weight of powerful words. Femi’s reading of the message could not leave anyone indifferent. Sadly, people often overlook the power of words, but this time, the message reached the right listeners.
