Western Or African?

I love good clothing a lot, I love clothes in variety of colours, in my younger years I preferred to wear light and comfy clothes which we called English wears then (western wear) .

source

I always loved the fact that I was always comfortable in whatever I wore, there are times when I have to wear native mostly when we had a party to attend and there was a dress code or a particular uniform that was chosen which we call (anko) in this part of the world, this was the time I had to wear our traditional dress mostly in Ankara or lace materials, the few times I had to sew this clothes were kinda fun to me because I was eager to attend the party.

So for me , I will always go with the Western dress because of my comfort, I can't beat that comfort in any thing. I remember a time when I had to choose my comfort over a Thanksgiving ceremony we had in church, we were asked to wear native to church, but because I was feeling too stressed out, I had to wear a jeans and top plus my sneakers.

Even though I felt left out, I wasn't feeling bad about it because I was okay wearing it, I was glad for the freeness I felt.
Western dressing in our society has its pros and cons, which is why there are occasions or time that are best suitable for wearing them.
Also the traditional wear has its own pros and cons which makes it best for some people, I have seen people put on a traditional dress(native) to a formal meeting and I guess that they feel comfortable in it, though I prefer the normal English dressing. However,I still look good in anything I wear because I choose to cherish my comfort over beauty

You will agree with me that African wears are so radiant in colour and it also comes in different material texture, this reminds me of the dress that I wore for my traditional wedding, though I have worn this dress to church on two occasions because I needed to do so.

The last time I wore it , it was so heavy that I opted to choose comfort.i have that particular dress stored somewhere safe in case I had a party to go or if I had somewhere important to go out to.

In as much at some clothes gives comfort they can't be worn every time and at every occasion.

That's really interesting ! Does anyone ever try to combine the two ideas, making clothes that have the beautiful colours and the shapes of traditional dress but using the lighter fabrics and construction techniques of western ?
