Let's discover the mineral water springs of the kings of Lipova, Arad county, Romania

Hello Hivers

I hope you're all right.

These days I've had a bit more free time, so I've been spending some of it in my garden at home, trying to relax, I don't know why, but I'm starting to have some memories that I cherish, namely my childhood.

I remembered the time when I used to go with my aunt to the resort of Băile Lipova, my aunt used to go there for treatment and I used to accompany her, it was extraordinary for me, I was 10 years old then.

Băile Lipova were and still are famous for the qualities of the mineral water there, as far as we know in 1928 this mineral water was awarded a gold medal.

But the legend says that this place was discovered by some shepherds who were grazing sheep on a pasture in the area, when they were sitting on the grass they began to hear a flowing water, they followed that sound and so they discovered the first spring, with great difficulty they tasted that water and felt a sour taste of water, a taste resulting from what the water contained.

I haven't been to Băile Lipova for over 20 years, I remember being here at the high school graduation banquet, boy, what a time.

Being the beginning of the weekend I scheduled for Saturday a walk to Băile Lipova to see what it looks like after 20 years, although I am relatively close to where I actually live I forgot about this place.

Băile Lipova is located in the west of Romania, in the town of Lipova, Arad county, it is not very difficult to get there, but you have to follow the road from the exit of the town to the village of Sistarovăț, and from Arad to Băile Lipova is about 35 km.

Honestly, I don't even know what to expect to find there, when I was last there 20 years ago, the buildings were old, left over from the communist period, those treatment centers where I used to go every year with my aunt didn't exist anymore (they were abolished and it was said that other modern treatment centers would be built in their place).

I set off through the picturesque plain of Arad and wanted to show you a fountain older than me, hehe.

I'm curious if any of you have encountered such wells with drinking water?

At first glance the resort looks neat, we left the car in the car park and went for a walk, after a few steps we came across the most sought after spot here, the bears and bear den, and this one looks very neat too.

I glanced around a bit and saw that instead of the treatment centre where my aunt and I used to come, a new but sad and dilapidated building had appeared.

The whole resort is surrounded by forest, and now the raw green colours are stunning, we head to the main attraction here, the mineral water spring.

On the right side the forest was flooded with water, an amazing sight, and I ventured just a few steps down a path into the forest, the water was not deep, a swamp had already formed that no one could enter.

The water from this spring flows through the mouth of a bear, from what a local told me the water at this spring was stopped for a while but it seems that only two years ago it was allowed to flow again.

We took some plastic bottles with us to fill them with water, compared to the mineral water we find bottled in shops, it had an iron smell and that sour taste, the water flows straight from the spring without having gone through any purification technology.

Also here we met some tourists who told us that if we follow the path through the forest we will find another spring where the water is even more sparkling, I did not know of the existence of the second spring.

We followed the directions of the tourist and went in search of the second spring, yes, the water in this spring no longer flows through the mouth of the bear but simply through a pipe, and here you can see the presence of a fairly high percentage of iron (at the bottom where the water flows you can see the color of iron).

Here you can see what is left of a bench, more than 20 years ago this was a place where you could rest and drink mineral water directly from the source.

If you ever think of visiting these mineral springs, know that you can connect this place with visiting other beautiful sights in the area, here I can mention the Maria-Radna Basilica and the Șoimoș Fortress (if you visit my blog you will see that I made a post about this amazing fortress).

My dear followers and visitors this is the end of our visit today to the mineral water springs of the kings of Lipova, in conclusion I can say that there are big differences between what I left here 20 years ago and especially what was here when I came with my aunt for treatment with what I found today (dilapidated buildings, renovated buildings but still left in disrepair).

20230501_160710.jpg

I have to admit that I left with a bitter taste, but with the thought that someone will take charge of developing this area to bring it back to its true value.

If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.

P.S. The attached pictures you have just seen are taken by me with my mobile phone, and the text is also designed by me.

Yours @triplug!😊

It is a shame, I know the feeling of expectation of revisiting a place after being away many years only to be disappointed. Loving the fact that you drink the pure water, I would too, tap water contains too many added ingredients like fluoride for instance.

I totally agree with you, tap water is not the purest water, the water in these mineral springs here instead comes straight from the ground, they are purified and bottled.
Here's a company that has been bottling this mineral water since around 1970 and still does today.

This feels nostalgic. I think it feels great to revisit the place that once we visited in our childhood years.😊

The bears are so cute hehe and the greeneries look so refreshing and tranquil.

Excellent shots and a beautiful model. 😊

This is a great place to rekindle childhood memories. You are fortunate enough to have that spring water that will use for daily consumption of the people living in the area. The nature that surrounds the place is awesome😊

Indeed, this spring water can be drunk by anyone, indeed, there is a company that bottles this mineral water.
It also has the advantage of being located in an area full of greenery and a amazing forest.

You forgot to add a bootle of this Mineral Water. 😋
But yes, its a shame not to take care of this place....really!

I remembered that too but after I already uploaded the post, and yes, it seems the authorities have completely forgotten about this place.

Didn't know of this place so far but that's because Arad is one of the very few cities in our country that I haven't visited yet. 😁

This place can be one on the list, I think this mineral water can be found through supermarkets, honestly I found this mineral water also in Ploiesti, Deva.
But I am sorry that these natural mineral springs are neglected by the authorities, this could be an area with incredible tourist potential.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
