Let's explore together the beauty of Brasov, the city with the narrowest street in Romania

Hello everyone

Last year in December we decided to take a walk in the centre of the country, in the heart of Transylvania, in Brasov county, we really wanted to go together to the city where even today we can see many historical buildings, impressive architecture and many attractions that have made it famous all over the world.
Brasov County is impressive not only for its historical centre but for the fantastic places in the mountains during the winter season.

The drive here took us a few hours, but it was worth it, we stopped a few times on the side of the road to take some pictures.

In Brasov we arrived in the evening, due to the fact that we were in the month of holidays and gifts in the center of the city we found a crowd, but this was not the problem but the parking places, but even here after we made a few laps through the old center we managed to catch a place in a private parking not far from the Old City Hall Square, the most emblematic place in the center of Brasov, a kind of kilometer 0 of the city.

Once we found a parking space for the car we slowly walked to the main attraction of the city, I must say that the parking was guarded and cost us 2lei/0,40euro/hour, a decent price considering that it was in the city center.

As I said at the beginning being in December here was the most famous Christmas fair in the county, so we could not miss such a walk through the fair to see what we can taste here, we were also hungry as we did not eat much during the days because we were all on the road.

Our objective was very clear, we had to get to Republicii Street and further on to the Old City Hall Square, on our way to the main attraction point we walked along the paved streets and passed by some amazing terraces that attracted you to sit down for a meal, all beautifully decorated in trend with the winter holidays.

At one point we came in the way Black Church, it is the largest Gothic church in Romania, unfortunately at the time we arrived we was closed, as far as I know in this church there is an organ dating from the eighteenth century.

And here is that after taking our eyes from the Black Church we see the imposing Old City Hall Square, here there were many houses decorated in tune with the winter holidays, clearly we took them in line to see what is still sold.

We continue our walk on Republicii street and here we found the same feeling of celebration, beautifully decorated restaurants, somewhere in the middle of the street I heard someone playing live songs, when I got closer I saw a whole band, I got something to eat and I sat and listened to them, they played very nice old and new songs, yes, they won me over.

Quite tired, we headed towards our last two objectives that we were going to visit that evening, namely the narrowest street in Romania (Strings Street or Rope Street) and the entrance gate to the citadel, Schei gate.

Rope Street, besides being catalogued as the narrowest street in Romania, is also the third narrowest street in Europe.

In the past this street connected two areas of the city and was mainly dedicated to firefighters, the total length of the street is 80 meters and a width of 1.10 meters, over time this street became very famous almost everyone wanted a picture of the narrowest street and so appeared and messages written on the walls and a lot of graffiti.

After finishing the street photo session we look towards the Schei gate, another emblematic place of the city, here we pass under the gate and head towards the place where we left the car, on our way we pass through a beautiful park.

Glad you like the pictures attached here and thanks for stopping by.
In this city as in other cities in Romania during the winter holidays everything is decorated with thousands of lights that create a fairytale image.

Wherever we are in this world the Christmas atmosphere (where it is held) is amazing, the atmosphere transports us into a story.
Rope Street in Brasov is the narrowest street in Romania and the third narrowest street in Europe.

Brasov looks like a city that is nicer than Bucharest 🙂 I hope, one day I will be able to explore Romania more and then I will visit it as well. I didn't know it was such a historical city with such charming architecture. And the Christmas market looks cool too!

Thank you for sharing!

Indeed, Brasov is one of my favorite cities in Romania especially when it comes to mountain resorts, architecture, history.
Personally, I like to visit Christmas Fairs both in Romania and other places in Europe.
I'm glad you like to visit Romania, and yes, here you have mountains and sea, so many amazing places.
Thanks for stopping by.

I was in Brasov in the summer, and walked that narrow street, loved all the scribbles on the walls. I think yes, it was called in English Rope Street

I am glad to hear that you visited Brasov and especially the rope street, I have visited Brasov many times and this time I went when the Christmas fair was going on, but Brasov has its charm and let's not forget the mountain area which is also magnificent.
Have a wonderful Weekend.

If you can't find your photos taken in Brasov, here's one more reason to come back to Romania and even more reason to come back to this amazing city, and maybe think about other activities there.
Cheers!

You are absolutely right, for me it works like this, at the beginning of the year I write in my diary where I would like to go that year.
And I prioritize the ones I've wanted to get to for a long time.
But, I have cities where I have been at least 10 times and if time permits I will return to that city with the same joy.
