Storm is coming....

Hello beautiful community

Here in western Romania we seem to be living in strange weather, which is not very suitable for this time of year.

It all started this morning (02.04.2024), when at 4 o'clock (in the morning), when I was sleeping better, I was suddenly awakened from sleep by an audible message (RO ALERT) from the emergency services announcing severe weather with possible thunderstorms, gales and wind gusts of over 80 km/h.

At 8 in the morning I go to work like any other day and the weather was perfect, nothing to worry about.

Sometime around four o'clock in the afternoon I went home to take care of my household chores, moreover after I got home I also went to the garden to see how the garden is transforming in these beautiful days, I leave you some pictures.

It didn't take too long everything started to change, the sky started to darken, the storm started, the wind was very strong, so I quickly took my drone to take some pictures.

It was so strange, if you looked in one direction the sky was black and if you looked in the opposite direction the sky was clear and the sun was shining in the sky, strange visual sensation.

In a few pictures from my drone I managed to capture the major differences, which of course you could see best from the air.

It wasn't long before the storm came with heavy rain and hail (the chunks of ice were quite large), I hope my garden won't be so affected by this event.

I waited for the storm to pass and got in the car and went to the hills to see what they looked like after the rain, I went to a few places but unfortunately on the hill I couldn't climb because the roads going up the hill were very muddy (and on foot it was hard to climb).

The picture below is taken in my garden.

In the pictures you can see a buckthorn plantation, which seems to have been unaffected by the hail.

Beautiful springtime nature photographs bursting with life and colors!

Although you live halfway across the world from me, we both experienced the same extreme weather conditions within the past 24 hours. Your aftermath looks much better than in the five surrounding states where I live in the Midwest. Strong winds, severe rains (1- 5 inches), hail ranging from pea size to golf ball size fell, tornado warnings and watches sounded in the evening and throughout the night. I stayed awake watching the meteorologists on television on alert and ready to wake my family to go to the basement for shelter as well as call my elderly mother who lives by herself 35 miles away. Fortunately our damage was minimal and no lives were lost.

Stay safe and keep up the terrific work! @triplug

Even if we are at a considerable distance we still have something in common, and yes, in Romania the strength of these storms is not so great (I'm referring to tornadoes) the strength of the wind is somewhere between 80km/hour in the area where I live (plain and hill area) and over 100km/hour in mountainous areas (here in such situations it is not advisable to venture into the mountains).

Today's storm brought hail the size of a grain of wheat, but never the size of a golf ball.

Hail the size of a golf ball would do major damage here and I really don't want to see that(but ultimately we can't fight nature).

But as far as I know, not very far from here (here I mean 200 km) there is special equipment at weather stations that can launch anti-hail missiles and, as far as I have seen, they are successful here.

Once again thank you very much for your presence here and for your support.

Crazy weather here too my friend. And we even had the same storm experience like you, just a few days ago. I was walking with a stroller on the outskirts of the town when I saw the clouds. Blue sky and sun shining from one side, dark apocalyptic clouds from the other. I clicked this shot.

You have some very cool pictures here :) Cheers!

Unfortunately, my friend, these are the times we live in, we can do nothing but protect ourselves.

I was lucky that the hail that fell yesterday didn't affect my fruit in the orchard, this time they escaped.

I forgot to write yesterday that due to the storm I had problems with the roof where I keep my tools and wood for central heating, I only managed to solve this problem today.

In my area it is extremely difficult to find specialists to help with such problems.

Glad you liked the images in my post and thank you very much for your support.

Glad to know that the storm didn´t damage your garden. Yeah, crazy times indeed. But we are only reaping what we sowed by pissing off Mother Nature for decades and centuries. The scientists have been warning us for ages but nobody listened. Now, it may be too late. Unfortunately.

I'm glad my garden escaped this time, and yes, we live in troubled times, but I hope we'll be okay and that Mother Nature won't take it out on us so badly.

Have a wonderful weekend.
