"The National Celebrations of Țebea", history goes on

20230910_160502(0).jpg

Hello everyone

Besides the fact that I am a great lover of history and I like all the places that are related to our ancestors, to our culture, to our beginnings, to our traditions, to our identity, I am also a great fan of events that highlight and remind us of certain important personalities in our history, those people who did certain deeds that have remained in our history.

Such an event takes place every year in September in Țebea (more precisely on the first Sunday of September) where many officials participate, but it is also a very touristy place known throughout Romania and beyond.

Location

Tebea is a village located in Hunedoara county where it is very easy to reach by car, as we arrived here after a drive of about two hours.

A few words about the event.

As I wrote above, on the first Sunday of September takes place the National Celebrations in Țebea, an event with a very important historical significance, an event dedicated to the memory of Avram Iancu.

This year marks 151 years since the death of this national hero.

I won't go into details about the ceremonies of the first part of the day, but I will go to the second part of the event, namely the folklore show and the visit of the fair.

As every year, coming here by car, I found it quite difficult to find a parking spot, so the landowners made their lots available for participants to park their cars (by my count, there were thousands of cars here).

From a distance you could see the main stage where folk music acts and stalls where producers were trying to sell their products.

If you don't like being in crowds plus outside being over 30 degrees plus this is not the place for you to visit.

It is worth mentioning that there is no entrance fee and no car parking fee, the only condition is to have good disposition.

The first time we decided to visit the church and the tomb of Avram Iancu, we arrived here after all the ceremonial was completed, so we could walk around freely.

Also in this area, we visited the most emblematic point, 'Horea's Oak,' an oak tree centuries old. In 2005, the last branch of the oak broke, and the oak tree dried up.

In 2022 a miracle happened, a new branch came out of the stem of the gorun (I will leave you a picture).

Let me take you to the manufacturers' stands and see what they have for sale.

I couldn't leave without a souvenir.

Let's take a walk around the main stage too.

After walking around for a while we got a craving for something sweet so we bought mini donuts, do you like these donuts?

In conclusion, I can say that the trip was exactly what I wanted, I was able to combine history, traditions and last but not least food.

For many years I have been coming to this event, both cultural and folkloric, which was broadcast live on national television in Romania.
I really like to sneak through the stalls of the craftsmen here and buy something, I admit I'm very greedy, have you seen what those mini donuts looked like😉

It seems interesting this fair, in addition to the craft stalls and food, there was also a stage, I imagine for folk concerts. Thanks for sharing !

Beautiful post, it’s really nice when we are able to celebrate our ancestors and this event seems to be very powerful and deep, and of course full of colors and great energy!! I really like and enjoy how some cultures value this in life, like an eternal channel of energy that keeps you all together. I also believe that and I think it’s one of the best reasons to build such a wonderful event!

As long as we still keep the history of our ancestors alive, then we will not lose our identity and it will continue to the future generations.
And through this type of events, we want to not forget who we are.
Thank you very much for stopping by.
