Colombia's national flower.
It is the most abundant and most characteristic of the Colombian cattleyas, which due to the striking and remarkable size of its flowers was incorporated into the national symbols.
It has a huge variety of shapes and colors. There are specimens from pure white and then a range of semi-shrubs, light pink, to very dark colors and with spots on the petals.
Its flowering can be seen between April and May.
It is characterized by its elongated leaves of fleshy consistency; with full edge. The inflorescence is a terminal cluster with few or several flowers. The flowers have free petals and sepals, among which the lip (lower petal) has a different shape and color than the rest of the flower, wound around the floral column forming a tube.
Its cultivation requires light, but not direct; in case of intense sun shade should be provided.
