My German Flock

avatar

Can't remember who it was that asked in a recent post how many sexy German silver eagle coins I have... Or was it more then one people. Meh, I am too lazy to check πŸ€”

Anyways, I took a look in the stack. Here's the answer:

A closer look:

received_760859122240112.jpeg

received_147255371631245.jpeg

Some really cool variations of the imperial eagle πŸ¦… πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

I also have a few Nazi coins but imo they don't fit the theme so I didn't include them πŸ˜‚

So 7 pieces in total:

3 x 10 Deutsche marks

4 x 5 Deutsche marks

In case you wonder about purity and shit, the 5 mark pieces weight 11.2 g and the 10 mark 15.5 g. So the total weight of my flock is 91.3 g. With a purity of 0.625 for all coins, that amounts to about 57 grams of pure silver. Not bad!

Other than their really cool designs, I love these pieces cause they are pretty common and relatively cheap. Usually I get them with just a small premium on the Facebook markets I hang around.

I have no idea how many designs are out in total, but I know that everytime I spot one for a decent price I make sure to add it to the stack.

I am actually waiting for two pieces, they will probably arrive in a couple of days so the flock is only gonna get bigger πŸŽ‰

Here are the coins from the other side:

Most of my pieces are to commemorate the Berlin Olympics and shit but there are others for all kinds of politician, scientists artists etc. My goal is to be the very best and catch em all!

Ok, that's it for today. Maybe next time I'll make a similar post and include my whole flock with eagles from the U.S. and Australia...And the nazi ones too πŸ˜‚

That’s a nice little stack of eagles. It doesn’t matter the design the silver is what matters. You getting it as close to spot is what’s important .

Nice eagles. That is a bunch of them and it would be interesting to see all the eagles together in one picture.

Wao all these coins looks so beautiful and amazing. I really like the most eagle design coins. The way silver is in high demand all over the world, it will give good returns to those who have hold it in the coming days.

There is one 5 DM coin that is not a special issue, the one from 1971 with the big eagle on one side. That was the regular 5 DM circulating coin, 5 DM bills were quite rare at that time. So there were billions of those made. Most of them got handed in and changed for Euros, of course, and then got destroyed.
The 10 DM coins were special issues on certain occasions, like the Olympics 1972. To collect all of them is quite a task - there are a lot of them, and a few are pretty expensive among collectors.

Well, we had the Deutsche Mark from 1947 to 1999 - so there are plenty of them. The cool thing was, you could actually get them for their face value in banks. But you had to be quick, often they were all sold in no time.

Not a bad set of German Eagle silver.
One of these days I'll get around to my Birds on Bills, Birds on Coins collection.
