Parasyte: The Maxim is a masterpiece!

avatar

It's been a few days since I started watching Parasyte: The Maxim and today I finally found the time to finish the last two episodes...

As a quick reminder, this is a 25 ep long scifi /horror / gore anime.

Parasyte is a Japanese science fiction horror manga series written and illustrated by Hitoshi Iwaaki and published in Kodansha's Morning Open Zōkan and Monthly Afternoon magazine from 1988 to 1995. The manga was published in North America first by Tokyopop, then Del Rey, and finally Kodansha USA. The series follows Shinichi Izumi, a high school senior who is the victim of a failed attempt by a parasyte organism to take over his brain. Instead of burrowing into his brain, the parasyte landed in his hand and matured partially up his arm. source

So... Was it any good?

Well, it was a fucking masterpiece! It's been ages since I last enjoyed an anime so much. Great plot, great fights, great animation, great dialogues, great character development, great music, great everything!

And it does a more than just a great job at exploring various philosophical stuff like human nature without getting to much weird like other animes often do.

So, if you like anime, gore and scifi this is a perfect suit for you. And even if you don't, chances are you will still love it. A masterpiece is after all a masterpiece.

I'll give it a 9.5/10. My only regret with this series is that it took me so long to discover! Go watch it. Now!

This is the second time you ask the exact same thing, you will get the same answer. I still hold my ava bag, slow and steady it only gets bigger thanks to the occasional swing trading. I have just stopped shilling my bags for a long time now, I prefer to post about otgercrap these days, mainly my silver junk, movies etc

I watched it a couple of years ago on one of my anime binges. Incredible show. I think one of the things that plagues a ton of anime shows to this day is interjecting comedy in situations that are supposed to be serious in nature. Parasyte completely went against that grain, and maintained a tone of urgency and sense of seriousness in the air. It was really refreshing to see. Death Note is another one that takes the no-bullshit approach as well.
