Tekken: Bloodline is a must watch!

avatar

So, a few days ago I finished watching the Sandman on Netflix and if you are following my posts then you know it's a show I thoroughly enjoyed.

Next one on the Netflix list was Tekken: Bloodline, an animated series based on the popular video game series.

Tekken was amongst my favorite fighting games while growing up, second only to Mortal Kombat, and I have many fond memories playing it... I can literally talk hours and hours about this game, especially Tekken 1 and Tekken 2 in which I have clocked hundreds if not thousands of hours, both against the CPU and other people.

Since Tekken: Bloodline is a Netflix production I didn't have any high expectations... Honestly I just expected some forgettable dog poo cash grab at best.

Yet.. Yet I couldn't be more pleasantly surprised!

Honestly, it's imo a must watch for any fan of the game series out there. It's not perfect. But it's good. Really, really good!

Let's start with the positives. The animation was good. Not perfect, but good enough. My only complaint here is how Paul face was depicted. I would have imagined something more youthful and...alpha!

The voice acting was pretty solid too. I am talking about the Japanese dub of course. I gave the English one a quick try... It was totally shit. Especially Heihachi sounded like a retard, lmao... But I can't deduct any points because of the English dub. Honestly, anyone watching anime in English deserves a slow painful death so who cares.

I also loved how they adapted the story. I don't remember the finer cannon details but I think they did a good job!

Music was also pretty good and the fight scenes pretty epic.

So what's the bad? The show was so good it makes you crave for more! Way more! It's only 6 episodes long and I would have loved to see more fights and characters from the original games like yosimitsu ! At least we got some action from King, my favorite character! But yeah... I wanted MOAR! More characters. More fights. More story and character building.

All in all. A great short series from Netflix and a must watch for the game fans! I will give a 9 out of 10! Go watch it you dipshits!

Jin Kazama is a young martial artist living alone with his mother, Jun Kazama, on Yakushima. When she is killed by the ancient demon Ogre, Jin begins training under his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima, in order to become stronger. To draw out Ogre, Jin competes alongside many others in the King of Iron Fist tournament, hoping to kill the demon and avenge his mother's death. source

If you haven't played the game before, everything about the animation will be blindsiding you.
You'll also not fully connect with the details behind the brutish Mishima bloodline and all that crap.

Well, if you enjoy watching martial art and ass kicking animation, you could watch it. However, without the game background, you won't really connect to each character or even feel the buzz around a lot of important scenes in the animation.

To you it'll just be "Oh so a dude with a Tiger face fights?" instead of "WOW THAT'S KING, LOVE HIS TECHNIQUE".

Well I guess I'll just read on the game since I can't go and play it or ill just find something else to watch; been looking for an animation to watch and this looks interesting.

Yeah you could just be reading different wiki articles as the series goes on.

The thing is, this animation is just one of numerous adaptation. There will be variations in some aspects like their actual power and stuff but there will also be some fundamental aspects of the storyline that must be included to make it "Tekken".

It's just like how Mortal Kombat must have Scorpion say "get over here" while shooting his thingy from his hand. However, in some canons, it is a harpoon and in others, it is an extension of his body.

So this Tekken adaptation has all those subtle aspects that gives it the kick and it'll only be appreciated when you're actually connected to the storyline from the game or wiki articles.

Ohhhh this seems too complicated then and would kill all the fun for me, I feel like if I go this route, ill give up halfway.

Lemme go searching for another animation, but I really don't trust reviews from google; they are always lying.

Σε κοβω για μερακλή και σίγουρα θα θυμασαι το arcade Cadillac and Dinosaur. Δες το animation στο youtube! Διαμαντάκι!

Bloodline looks to be a good series. 6 episodes might be a bit short !

That looks fun. I also loved Tekken 1 & 2. I bought 3 for my PS1 but didn't get as much into it as I had the 2nd. I don't think I remember the story at all, but maybe it'd come back to me.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

This is a surprising proposed movie as I don't watch animation pretty much, but if that takes me back to the days when I was running from school to play Mortal Kombat and games alike, I am in! Let's digest this movie with some popcorn on top ;))
