We need equality so both girls and boys are treated fairly - Ladies of Hive community contest#67 [ENG/ESP]

Hello ladies! I had a whole post written, answering the two questions for the Ladies of hive Community contest #67, I was invited by @pashinni and I was influenced by her answer and wanted to write something kind of funny, then I got another invitation from @irenenavarroart and I decided to completely change my post because we tend to sugar coat our speech when it comes to this kind of topics because we don't want to offend anyone.

It's not a secret that a huge part of women's problem is because a lot of cultures and religions put a lot of pressure on women and give men power over them, so yeah, I'm against that. I'm not against the individuals that follow a religion because it brings them peace, most of them are taught the bright side and another part of them don't know better.

But their beliefs affect me when they are used to creating the law that I have to follow when I talk about something bad that happened and I'm told to let it go because it's a God's plan, when women are suffering because a book that nobody knows for sure who wrote it says they have to.

So my disclaimer will be: I respect you being into a religion, you have all the right to believe in whatever you want, even more, if it helps you to be a better person. Now I ask you to respect my opinion about why religion should have nothing to do with social problems and laws.

¡Hola Damas! Tenía todo un post escrito, respondiendo a las dos preguntas del concurso Ladies of hive Community contest #67, me invitó @pashinni y me influenció su respuesta y quise escribir algo un poco divertido, luego recibí otra invitación de @irenenavarroart y decidí cambiar completamente mi post, porque tendemos a endulzar nuestro discurso cuando se trata de este tipo de temas porque no queremos ofender a nadie.

No es un secreto que una gran parte del problema de las mujeres se debe a que muchas culturas y religiones presionan mucho a las mujeres y dan poder a los hombres sobre ellas, así que sí, estoy en contra de eso. No estoy en contra de los individuos que siguen una religión porque les aporta paz, a la mayoría de ellos se les enseña el lado bueno y otra parte no conoce otra cosa.

Pero sus creencias me afectan cuando se usan para crear la ley que tengo que seguir, cuando hablo de algo malo que pasó y me dicen que lo deje pasar porque es un plan de Dios, cuando las mujeres sufren porque un libro que nadie sabe a ciencia cierta quién lo escribió dice que tienen que hacerlo.

Así que mi descargo de responsabilidad será: Respeto que sigas una religión, tienes todo el derecho a creer en lo que quieras, incluso más, si te ayuda a ser mejor persona. Ahora te pido que respetes mi opinión sobre por qué la religión no debería tener nada que ver con los problemas sociales y las leyes.

Women being respected because they are humans, and need to be judged because of their actions and not by their gender, definitely not because they are "fragile, gorgeous, givers of life"

Que las mujeres sean respetadas porque son seres humanos, y necesitan ser juzgadas por sus acciones y no por su género, definitivamente no porque sean "frágiles, hermosas, dadoras de vida"

Now to give context for that, and why I mean this under any circumstances and not just when it benefits us, I have a storytime:

I have a little cousin, a 6yo he's very sweet. He was telling me about how her bigger cousins, which are girls 8yo and 9yo, hit him and bully him anytime he's at their grandma's house. I asked him "Why didn't you tell your granma or your big sister?" and he said "I did but they don't believe me" then I told him "Well, if they won't do anything, stop them yourself, defend yourself" and to that he said "I can't defend myself, I can't hit a woman because "Girls shouldn't be hit, not even with a flower!" and Jehova is watching he will be mad at me and I will go to hell"

Excuse me? WTF!!! These girls were no angels, they were punching a boy smaller than them, telling him bad things. I didn't mean he to hit them, that what he thought I was going to say, but I was shocked with his answer. Why would you tell a 6yo boy he will go to hell?

Women being cute and Jehova being mad are not the reasons why "defending yourself" shouldn't be done with your fists.

Ahora para dar contexto a esto, y por qué quiero decir esto bajo cualquier circunstancia y no sólo cuando nos beneficia, tengo una anécdota

Tengo un primo pequeño, de 6 años que es muy dulce. Me estaba contando cómo sus primas más grandes, que son niñas de 8 años y 9, le pegan y le intimidan cada vez que está en casa de su abuela. Le pregunté "¿Por qué no se lo has dicho a tu abuela o a tu hermana mayor?" y me dijo "Lo he hecho pero no me creen" entonces le dije "Pues si no hacen nada, párales tú, defiéndete" y a eso me dijo "No puedo defenderme, no puedo pegar a una mujer porque "A las niñas no se les debe pegar ni con el pétalo de una rosa" y "Jehová está mirando se enfadará conmigo y me iré al infierno"

¿Perdón? ¡¡¡WTF!!! Estas chicas no eran ningunos ángeles, estaban pegando a un niño más pequeño que ellas, diciéndole cosas malas. No me refería a que les pegara, eso es lo que él pensó que iba a decir, pero me quedé sorprendida con su respuesta. ¿Por qué le dices a un niño de 6 años que irá al infierno?

Que las mujeres sean lindas y que Jehová se enoje no son las razones por las que "defenderse" no debe hacerse con los puños.

My little cousin was a victim of discrimination against women, and irrational fear of God.

Why is it discrimination against women? Because the girls aren't considered big enough, strong enough, mean enough, to outperform a boy, he must be the one being bad to them, he must be lying. And no, he was just letting them step on him because he must be a man and nobody will help him.

This is one of many moments where women or girls, in this case, aren't judge because of their actions but because of their gender. In my story, it benefits them, but it hurts my cousin. Any situation where girls are discriminated against or treated a certain way because they are women and nothing else will hurt someone.

Mi primo fue víctima de la discriminación de la mujer y del miedo irracional a Dios.

¿Por qué es discriminación a las mujeres? Porque se considera que las chicas no son lo suficientemente grandes, fuertes y malvadas como para superar a un chico, debe ser él el que está siendo malo con ellas, debe estar mintiendo. Y no, se dejaba pisar por ellas porque debe ser un hombre y nadie le va a ayudar.

Este es uno de los muchos momentos en los que las mujeres o las niñas, en este caso, no son juzgadas por sus acciones sino por su género. En mi historia, esto les beneficia a ellas, pero perjudica a mi primo. Cualquier situación en la que se discrimine a las chicas o se las trate de cierta manera por ser mujeres y nada más, perjudicará a alguien.

Now the Jehova part. My cousin won't hit because Jehova is watching him. What if he decides later on his life that he doesn't care about Jehova, he doesn't want a religion, nobody is watching him, Will he hit then? He's not scared of hell anymore, What holds him from doing bad actions?...

This Jehova argument is also used against girls, if they were violated, then now they don't have any value because they are not pure anymore, because they are dirty, their life is over once a man had them, not even when they decide to be with a man but when a man decides to force them, like they could do anything under that situation.

Ahora la parte de Jehová. Mi primo no pega porque Jehová lo vigila. ¿Qué pasa si él decide más tarde en su vida que no le importa Jehová, que no quiere una religión, nadie lo está mirando, ¿Va a golpear entonces? Ya no tiene miedo al infierno, ¿Qué le impide hacer malas acciones?

Este argumento de Jehová también se usa contra las niñas, si fueron violadas, entonces ahora no tienen ningún valor porque ya no son puras, porque están sucias, su vida se acaba una vez que un hombre las tuvo, ni siquiera cuando deciden estar con un hombre sino cuando un hombre decide forzarlas, como si pudieran hacer cualquier cosa bajo esa situación.

We are missing the equality part, equality means to have the same opportunities but also being treated the same when under the same circumstances.

Now imagine their genders changed. If my cousin was a girl bullied by two big boys, they will be either punished or made fun of because they were fighting with a little girl. This girl will be defended by his big brother, because we are talking about a normal family, no one with other issues more than this gender related thing, the older siblings usually protect the young ones.

Nos faltando la parte de la igualdad, la igualdad significa tener las mismas oportunidades pero también ser tratados de la misma manera en las mismas circunstancias.

Ahora imagina que sus géneros cambian. Si mi primo fuera una niña acosada por dos niños grandes, estos serían castigados o se burlarán de ellos porque se estaban peleando con una niña. Esta niña sería defendida por su hermano mayor, ya que estamos hablando de una familia normal, sin otros problemas más que este asunto relacionado con el género, los hermanos mayores suelen proteger a los pequeños.

Respect and equality is what we need to achieve yet. Convenient or not, we like it or not, but fair, our actions good or bad should have the same consequences regardless of our gender. Same punishment and same rewards.

There are differences between women and men physically talking and it has to be taken under consideration, but those differences have nothing to do with moral, ethical, and intellectual capacity.

This is my opinion on this topic, probably not the usual way to talk about it, but I consider it an honest way of doing it.

El respeto y la igualdad es lo que tenemos que conseguir todavía. Conveniente o no, nos guste o no, pero justo, nuestras acciones buenas o malas deben tener las mismas consecuencias independientemente de nuestro género. El mismo castigo y la misma recompensa.

Hay diferencias entre mujeres y hombres físicamente hablando y hay que tenerlas en cuenta, pero esas diferencias no tienen nada que ver con la capacidad moral, ética e intelectual.

Esta es mi opinión sobre este tema, probablemente no sea la forma habitual de hablar de ello, pero la considero una forma honesta de hacerlo.
