Equalizer: Weekly Battle Mage Secrets

  • All units start with the same health, based on the highest health on either team.

  • Buffs and debuffs are done afterward - this impacts base health.

For this week the rule is equalizer. All units start with the same health, based on the highest on either team. I often use monsters with one life in this ruleset because low-life creatures are useful due to their abilities. For example, Dumacke Orc, who has only one life, but at level 8, he has 8 armor, shield, and retaliate ability. You often encounter him in battles without magic rulesets because of his retaliate and shield abilities, making him suitable for the front or rear positions if you anticipate a sneak attack from the opponent. Another example of a one-life monsters you can benefit from in the equalizer ruleset is the Exploding Rats, especially when the ruleset includes equal opportunity. Because of their blast ability, Exploding Rats can attack anywhere and spread the blast effect to the opponent. The last example I'll mention here, commonly used in high leagues, is the Ever-Hungry Skull because at max level, it gains additional abilities like thorns and return fire. You often encounter it when magic cannot be used in the battle.

When it comes to high mana cost cards, I often use them in the modern format. These include Kain Hace, a magic attacker with blast and reflection shield abilities; Jared Scar, a melee attacker with true strike, piercing, and bloodlust abilities; Drybone Raider, with double strike and shatter abilities; Thanalorian Scion, a magic attacker with corrosive ward and void armor abilities; Djinn Inferni, a magic attacker with giant killer ability; and finally, Mordeus, a melee attacker with opportunity ability.

MY BATTLE


The battle condition is 47 mana caps The elements that you can use in the battle are earth, life, water, and death. The rulesets are earthquake and equalizer.

I chose Possibilus The Wise to grant all units additional +2 to life, trample, and reach abilities. My strategy in this battle is to use monsters that provide swiftness to speed up all allies. Additionally, I employ weapons training to give my units in the first position the ability to attack. Possibilus is a suitable summoner for this because its reach ability helps the monsters in the 2nd position to attack in the first position of the opponent.

1st Position

LORD ARIANTHUS - No attack unit with shield, magic reflect, and void abilities. Arianthus is suitable for the first position because of the defense ability it owns.

2nd Position

KULU MASTERMIND - Melee attacker with weapons training, opportunity, and shield abilities. Kulu will give attack ability to Arianthus and Noa The Just because of the weapons training.

3rd Position

NOA THE JUST - No attack unit with rust and dodge abilities. Rust's ability removes the armor of the opponent.

4th Position

DAARG DEADBLAST - Magic attacker with weapons training, triage, and swiftness abilities. Daarg will give a magic attack to Merdaali guardian and an additional magic attack to Noa The Just. Daarg also gives additional speed to all units.

5th Position

MERDAALI GUARDIAN - No attack unit with tank heal ability. To heal the first position unit.

6th Position

RUNEMANCER KYE - Magic attacker with flying and life leech abilities. Life Leech helps Runemancer increase her life. while the flying ability to avoid the damage of earthquake

Because the opponent used a monster with high life, all monsters now have 14 life due to the equalizer ruleset.

It reached round 7 before any monsters died in the battle because of the excellent support from each of us. I only little advantage because of Arianthus' magic reflect, as two of his monsters lacked flying ability and were magic attackers, thus obtaining additional damage each turn.

In round 9, because there was no more armor repair for Inevitable, I finally managed to kill him in the 1st position.

The battle ended in round 10. Meriput Magician received so much damage that he couldn't last in the battle.

CONCLUSIONS - yellow.png

  • My strategy of using Possibilus as the summoner in the battle was successful because it provided the trample ability to Arianthus, Kulu Mastermind, and Noa The Just.
  • Noa The Just's rust ability also aided in the battle by removing the additional armor provided by the summoner, GrandMaster Rathe. Removing the extra armor helped to quickly reduce the opponent's health from the earthquake damage.
  • The front and backline heal also help in the battle.
  • Sometimes, it's best to avoid using monsters with high health because it can sometimes work in favor of the opponent. Just like what happened in my battle, because of the opponent's Inevitable, Lord Arianthus had 14 life, which favored him.
