‎How Marriage And Fatherhood Really Changed Me...

‎Hello Hives,

‎It's another beautiful round on hive students connect and it feels great to talk about one of the things that really changed me like the prompt said.

‎There have been people who have influenced me, experiences that have taught me valuable lessons, and mistakes that forced me to grow. But if I had to point to one thing that truly changed me, then I would say marriage and fatherhood.

‎Becoming a husband and father really changed me in ways I never expected.

‎Before marriage and fatherhood, I had dreams, plans, and ambitions. I wanted to succeed, make money, enjoy life, and build a good future for myself. But after becoming a husband and father, something shifted. I realized that my life was no longer only about me.

‎There were now little people looking up to me.

‎I remember moments when my wife and my child would simply call for me, even for something little, and I would realize, “This person needs me.” Sometimes it could be something as simple as helping with food, carrying them when they are tired, calming them when they are crying, or just sitting beside them im the toilet. Those little moments may seem ordinary, but they have taught me what responsibility really means.

‎There are also the moments when I come home tired and still have to find the strength to be present. Sometimes all I want is to rest, but then I see that smile or hear, “Daddy,” and somehow the tiredness doesn't feel as important anymore.

‎Watching my children grow has also changed me. Seeing them learn new words, discover new things, laugh at the simplest things, or achieve something they struggled with makes me genuinely proud. It reminds me that I am not only raising children , but I am helping shape human beings.

‎Fatherhood has given me a different kind of motivation. When I think about my future now, I don't just ask, “What do I want for myself?” I also ask, “What kind of future do I want to create for my children?”

‎That question pushes me to work harder.

‎It has also made me more patient. I have learned that children don't need a perfect father. They need a father who is present, who listens, who teaches, who makes mistakes but keeps learning, and who loves them consistently.

‎Perhaps the biggest change is how I now understand my own parents. There are sacrifices they made that I never fully understood as a child. Now that I am a father, I see those sacrifices differently.

‎I am still learning every day. I still make mistakes, and I certainly don't have all the answers.

‎But fatherhood gave me something I didn't know I needed, and which is a purpose bigger than myself.

‎It gave me responsibility. It gave me motivation. It gave me a reason to keep pushing even when life gets difficult.

‎Most importantly, it changed the way I see myself and the world around me.

‎I became a husband and father, but somewhere along the way, marriage and fatherhood also made me a better version of myself.

Brilliant bro yes it changed me as well, in fact i would say it saved me has i was lost and floundering before my wife and then our first child was born.

I went from not giving a shit about anything or anyone to suddenly caring with all the care in the world about my family and the environment they would be living in.

Becoming a husband and father defo fixed me to a certain point so i could grow as a person.

I especially love the point that children don’t need a perfect father, but one who is present, patient, and willing to keep learning. Sometimes it’s the ordinary, everyday moments that teach us the deepest lessons about love, responsibility, and purpose. Truly inspiring. 🙏🏽
