Fly away

If you've read the Prequel (Firefly lane) you will easily see that Fly away is a direct continuation of Firefly Lane.

Firefly Lane focuses on the lives of two Best friends Tully and Kate whom the universe had brought together on Firefly Lane on the worst night of Tully's life. They had been best of friends for more than thirty years and were inseparable until Kate dies of Breast cancer.

Fly away focuses on the aftermath of Kate's death and how her Husband, Children, and Best friend struggle with the pain of losing a loved one.

Kate's husband strives to handle the family alone while struggling with the loss of his wife but his 16 year old daughter is indifferent to his approach and hates him. She falls in love and runs away with a strange man who takes her down 'danger lane'.

Tully had promised Kate she'd help take care of her children but it may not be as simple to fulfil as painful memories from her teenage years hunt her and her struggles with addiction pulls her down than ever. Her mother- Dorothy (mostly referred as Cloud) comes along and more secrets are exposed.

I wouldn't be diving too much into the story but will focus on the style as observed and what makes this book stand out in my opinion.

Transition from third person to first person

The story narratives begins with a third-person in chapter one and shifts to first-person in the following chapter. There is a noticeable back and forth transitions from third to first person several times thus showing the readers from a narrated view and from first hand experience as the story unfolds, thus making the story more exciting.

One book, One story, Several voices

The story begins with Tully Hart's struggles after Kate's death and how she walked away from her life in the midst of the emotions and pain as seen from a narrated perspective.
Tully suddenly opens her eyes in chapter two, and we are made to see the story unfold in real time in Tully's voice. She narrates her current state, how she could only take shallow breaths, with dry throat and striking headache.

The darkness consumes her and pulls her farther in and her screams are instantly swallowed as narrated by her. "I feel this... and I feel that.."
There is an instant jump to another narrative following Johnny Ryan but this time in third person until Tully appears once more and goes on a journey with Kate in the afterlife.

Marah's story is told in the same light and there is sometimes a transition to her own voice which allows for better understanding of a teenagers' plight in the midst of pain and memories.

Thanks to Kristin Hannah, we are able to experience the amazing story from several voices and perspective, thus giving us insights into each character's thought process and feeling.

Faces unknown to family visits after death

The aftermath of Tully's death is made realistic in her burial. A lot of people came visiting to pay their last respect. People whom her husband Johnny had never seen until that moment. While some were colleagues from work whom she had never talked about, some were long time friends her husband was not aware of.

In my opinion it's a very realistic approach. Secret's may not exist but you can't possibly know all of your spouse's associates until after death when they come around to pay their last respect.

I can relate very well relate with this situation, but I'd rather not go further.

Struggles with loss made realistic

A teenager craving life and happiness once again

Marah (16) Kate's daughter becomes devastated after her Dad's death and hates her father for no reason. She becomes rebellious like teenagers of her age do. She wants to be happy once again, wants to feel loved and is desperate to get rid of the loneliness and the gap left behind by her mom.

She meets a young man who makes her happy or so she thinks but things are not as it seems. Like most teenagers, mistakes are made and the rest is history.

The After life

A bit of the after life is explore with Tully as she wakes up in darkness and struggles until she encounters Kate who takes her down 'memory lane' in her near death experience.

Each event is described as realistic as possible and the emotions are felt in each line.

Emotions are felt

Altogether, time isn't wasted on describing the environment and surroundings but words are well spent on matters of the heart and letting the readers feel what the characters are feeling.

Cloud

After years of rejection and abandonment, Tully's mother finally comes back and want to be by her daughter. Secret's are revealed and emotions are all over the place.

If you haven't read the Prequel (Firefly Lane), you can skip it altogether and explore the wonderful world of 'Fly away' with it's wonderful narratives and emotion filled moments as presented by Kristin Hannah.

Fly away

Watch out for the human traffickers at hivefest. You wont know it until its too late. STAY AWAY! Beware, traffickers can be women or men! They will act nice until they dont. There is human trafficking going on around this type of crypto. I have witnessed it. They literally have attempted my murder and are trying to kill me with V2K and RNM. Five years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Dont we pay them to stop shit like this? The NSA, CIA, FBI, Police and our Government has done nothing. Just like they did with the Havana Syndrome, nothing. Patriot Act my ass. The American government is completely incompetent. The NSA should be taken over by the military and contained Immediately for investigation. I bet we can get to the sources of V2K and RNM then. https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism ..... https://ecency.com/gangstalking/@acousticpulses/electronic-terrorism-and-gaslighting--if-you-downvote-this-post-you-are-part-of-the-problem if you run into one of them you may want to immediately shoot them in the face. 187, annihilate, asphyxiate, assassinate, behead, bleed, bludgeon, boil, bomb, bone, burn, bury, butcher, cap, casket, choke, chop, club, crucify, crush, curb, decapitate, decimate, deflesh, demolish, destroy, devein, disembowel, dismember, drown, electrocute, eliminate, end, euthanize, eviscerate, execute, explode, exterminate, extinguish, finish, fry, grind, guillotine, gut, hack, hang, hit, ice, implode, incinerate, kill, liquidate, lynch, massacre, maul, microwave, mutilate, neutralize, obliterate, off, pop, poison, punnish, quarter, ruin, shank, shock, shoot, shred, skin, slay, slaughter, smoke, smother, snipe, snuff, squish, stab, strangle, stone, suffocate, suicide, SWAT, swing, terminate, torture, terrorize, whack, waste, wreck.
