Describe Your Para: Not Proud Of My Neighborhood

My reflection and inward thoughts

Since I joined the crypto space in late 2017 and got my account created in early 2018 - my level of interaction with the people living in my neighborhood changed drastically - basically because my attention and focus in the offline was redirected online behind my phone screen to join a new neighborhood at a global level. Well, most people prefer to term it as a virtual community but since there is an ongoing contest with a countdown of less than 4 hours to end - I deem it fair to highlight the hive community as my favorite hub place - my "banana island neighborhood" .

Till date I remember how I was converted to join the league of financial freedom fighters (crypto) - how I was financially incapacitated and scurrying around on whatsapp looking for how to earn money online especially by playing bets - it was in that moment of desperate search that I was enthralled by a two liner message to retreat from the path of a gambler and focus on the path of digital money mined by proof of brain. Before my conversion into a crypto enthusiast - I used to have a lot of time on my sleeves to play Ps2, hangout, gist, watch the Tv, play football, go to parties or ceremonious events etc with people in my neighborhood but after I joined the crypto space, everything changed and now I am a popular absentee to the people in my neighborhood because I have immigrated into another planet(crypto).

That aside - just because I don't have the same level of charisma of going outside a lot to meet up and connect with people in my neighborhood but rather stay indoor and make better use of my time - doesn't mean I have forgotten about life in my neighborhood - to be honest, my level of disconnection from my neighborhood is at a partial rate but one notable thing about my neighborhood is that it holds one out of ten of my best fond memories and still part of my lifestyle.

Where I Grew Up

My neighborhood holds one of the rich history and memories of where I grew up. This is a part that's located in the poorest suburb region in my country with people from different ethnicities speaking up to or more than 8 different languages - funny enough I only know how to speak about two languages out of the eight or so. The street and housing structure is more like a maze - and is barely organized like we have it in big estates and planned city but yet the suburb touch of life makes the environment unique to leverage a low cost standard of living.

What My Neighborhood Lacks

While wrapping my head around the contest on what to write - I came to the conclusion that original images was the only thing that could fit in properly into my writing but when I did a quick reflection on my neighborhood's environment - my underdeveloped abode was not something I could beat my chest in pride to snap and share pictures of because the buildings and street looks are in deployable state - we lack the urban privileges like easy access to banks, hospitals, stable electricity, stiff security, employment opportunities, good roads, good drainage system, modern means of transportation eg: train, government subsidized transport facility, water systems etc but yet even if we lacked all these necessary infrastructure - my neighborhood is a place that improvises on alternatives to remedy the appalling situation.

The rainy season

The rainy season hasn't smiled gracefully to the environment of my neighborhood - the whole place is so messed up and filled with excess water or "flood lite" - albeit despite the awful appearance of my neighborhood - I was still able to unashamedly come up with few pictures I deem pretty okay to upload on the net.

Please promise me you won't laugh at the images you are about to feed your eyes on, Okay? Lol.

This infant tree, as I like to call it is planted to the left side of my compound - it was planted beside a dilapidated fallen fence separating the house in where I live with my neighbors - to the best of my ability - I recall that this tree was planted by two little boys whose age should be around 5-7 years old.

Like I said earlier, the incessant rainfalls we have experienced in the last few months hasn't been meek with our environment - the image above is my compound flooded with water - the picture was taken from an aerial view.

Above are photos I took in the night - I read the entry of my friend @xawi - I was pleased to read that I challenged her to make an entry but what caught my attention with delight in her post was the night view and day view images of her neighborhood - which prompted me to nick the idea of her photograph style by adding a night view in my own post. There above, you have the front night view and side night view of my compound - the building was built in the late 90's - it has 4 flats and three shops on the outside.

Actually I don't have anything fascinating about my neighborhood to share - it's just filled with old houses, childhood memories and nothing more.

Thanks for reading.

This is my entry to bdcommunity contest for this week.

attention: all images used in this post are properties of mine, thank you.

I really hope the authorities do something to brighten things up and provide proper drainage system so that the water does not stagnate.

Some years ago, betnaija nearly killed me. Anytime my brother gave money I spent it on betnaija. Thank God that you are out
