Obedience to God's will (part 1 of 2) | The Old Path

From the story of Abraham, who obeyed God even when asked to sacrifice his son (Genesis 22:1-18), to Jesus Christ, who submitted to God's will even unto death (Luke 22:42), Scripture consistently teaches that true faith is demonstrated through obedience. Obedience is not just about following rules, but about trusting God's wisdom and goodness even when we don't fully understand His plans. It shows our love for Him, as Jesus said in

John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commandments.”

The blessings of obedience are also emphasized throughout the Bible. In Deuteronomy 28, God outlines the many blessings that come from obeying His voice, including peace, provision, and protection. However, disobedience often led to hardship and separation from God's presence, as seen in the lives of Adam and Eve, King Saul, and many others. Obedience brings us closer to God, strengthens our relationship with Him, and allows His will to be fulfilled in our lives. Ultimately, it is through obedience that we live in harmony with God's purpose and become instruments of His grace in the world.
