Shattered Ambition ~nonfictional prompt 74

“Danny held the railing strongly as what he saw was no less than a shock. He couldn't have imagined even in his dreams what was going to him these days. He closed the web page thinking it would be an error but refreshing it also produced the same result and He got to realized that this is what he would have to endure now.”

Life doesn't go all the time as we want from it. It brings on and off. We plan and work on it but sometimes something is waiting for us despite a strong plan and committed hard work. Even our life is not in our hands and we have to encounter very harsh situations sometimes in our life for whom we aren’t used to being ready to confront but we have to as we don't have any other option.

This was about 6 years ago back in 2018. Danny was a charming and good-looking boy but recent life’s harshness snatched attraction from his face. He was the only kid of his parents and was brought up with great affection and love. His parents used to cosset him a lot. He was the apple of their eyes. They all were living happily in a joint family system with their uncle and his family. All was good until both of his parents suffered a sudden death due to an accident. This tragedy cost him a lot in all aspects.

His uncle who pretended to be good in front of his parents turned completely phlegmatic and apathetic. He confiscated resources from Danny’s parents. Danny was just an intermediate-level student and wanted to study further at some university. He didn’t have funds as all of his accounts with his father were in the hands of his uncle.

One day his uncle was sitting on the lawn playing with his kids when Danny appeared on the spot and sat near to him. His uncle sighted him for once and then again got busy with his kids. Danny produced Ahem sound to attract the attention of his uncle but he didn't pay it.

“Uncle, the deadline for university fee submission is about three days from now,” Danny said to his uncle.

“So what is the motive for telling me this, Didn't I ask you not to waste time and money on education?”His uncle scowled.

“But uncle I don’t want to sit in business affairs. I want to study further, please let me” Danny requested

His uncle put his hand in his pocket and extracted some amount from it“OK as you wish if you want to waste your time and money, I will not stop you but I don’t have the amount that you are asking for .....here is some...go and managed in it”

The amount was not even the third portion of the fee he was required to submit to clear the university dues. But Danny accepted it as he knew the more insistence would return that money as well.

Now he was thinking about the remaining amount that had to be submitted. He got to know about a new crypto exchange on which instant trading was also possible. He collected some basic knowledge about that. He was not an expert and joined a crypto expert for the signal. He waited for the day to keenly observe how it works and then he thought to invest all his resources into that to make them profit ASAP. He selected future trading as he didn’t have time for spot trading.

Initially, trade was green. He was relaxed as well now he was thinking about making the due amount . He closed the app and got busy with house chores. But hours later when he reopened the app, he suffered a 300 volt shock. The earth was slipping below his feet. He was benumbed as all of sudden his accounts got liquidated to sudden dump. His mind was not ready to accept this. His plans were sabotaged first by his Uncle and now his luck. His ambition to study further shattered before his eyes. He was not even able to stand on his legs and was taking support from the railing. He wanted to cry but he couldn't......

Hmmm... It was not what he had planned, but nature has to take it the other way.
Sometimes our plans may not go the way we wanted it

Well done for integrating action and dialogue into your piece, Usman! Your submission is a lot more balanced now. Is this piece a true story from your life ie: creative non-fiction, or is it a piece of fiction? It feels more like fiction the way it has been written. You built the conflict nicely in waves, from the death of his parents, to his desire for education being withheld, to his losses in the crypto markets. You show the rise and fall from conflict to resolution or part-resolution as you develop the story. We also get a good sense of Danny's plight and his uncle's selfishness through the dialogue. I would have loved to have seen a bit more around how Danny came to live with his uncle after his parents' passing and the impact it had on him. Little bits of foreshadowing showing the change in his uncle's demeanour towards him as a result of him having access to and control of the inheritance. I would also have loved to have known what happened in the end. What did Danny do to overcome the latest obstacle that he faced in his life?

Please do remember to support at least two other writers in The Ink Well for each story that you post. Without our writers supporting each other, we would not have a community 🤗

Thank you for your clarification, Usman. A suggestion regarding #CNF is to stipulate at the bottom of your post that names have been changed for privacy reasons. This will indicate more clearly that your story is #CNF. Part of the rules of our community is that we all support at least two other stories for each one that we share. This also requires us to engage with the authors on the posts about their stories. It is always ok not to comment on stories that you read but don't resonate with or have nothing to add (because we don't want to encourage spam comments), but if you wish to be part of the community and to share your posts here, we do require active meaningful engagement on at least two posts each time. So read a few more and find two that you do want to engage with... Hope you have a lovely day :-)

A very sad story, but with a palpable reality, life can truly be very hard with some people. Here in my country it is said that some people are born with the black star on their back.

Thanks for sharing.
Happy day.

Life is full of uncertainties, but his uncle's actions shows that he is a very wicked person.
