Harmony with Nature

I wandered through the city's streets, Lost in the chaos and the noise, The honking cars and restless feet, A never-ending rush and poise.

I yearned for solace and for peace, For a respite from the endless strain, To find a place where worries cease, And my heart could beat again.

And so I left the city's din, And headed towards the wooded glade, To breathe the fresh air deep within, And seek the solace that nature made.

But as I wandered through the trees, I felt their bitter hostility, Nature's creatures taught to hate, The unquiet man and his futility.

I heard the rustling of the leaves, And the murmur of the hidden streams, And sensed the creatures in the eaves, Watching me with wary gleams.

The birds that sang so sweetly once, Now seemed to mock my human voice, Their melody a piercing taunt, Their anger for me to rejoice.

The animals that roamed so free, Now eyed me with a primal fear, Their claws and teeth too quick to see, Their hatred for me oh so clear.

The trees that stood so tall and proud, Now seemed to wither and decay, Their branches reaching out to shroud, The man that had lost his way.

For nature is a fickle thing, A force that's hard to understand, A beauty that can quickly sting, A power that can crush a man.

And as the sap rose in the trees, And painted them a violent green, So rose the wrath of nature's beasts, Against man and his reckless scheme.

Nature is sick at man's unrest, His constant fussing and fuming, She's sick of his endless agony, And his gaudy mind that's always zooming.

For his body he drives ever faster, In the wrong direction, never slowing, Nature's sick at man's absurdity, And her face too is painted a violent green.

She's sick of all his careless ways, His greed and his insatiable thirst, She's sick of all his pointless days, His never-ending cycle of worst.

But man can change his ways and mind, And learn to live in harmony, With nature's creatures and her kind, To bring peace and unity.

He can mend his careless ways, And learn to love the earth and skies, He can cherish nature's beauty rays, And see the world with different eyes.

He can learn to listen to the breeze, And hear the whispers in the trees, He can sense the magic of the bees, And feel the earth's eternal ease.

For nature is a precious thing, A force that's kind and full of grace, A beauty that can make hearts sing, A power that can heal the human race.

So let us heed nature's warning, And learn to live in harmony, With her creatures and her ways, To bring peace and unity.
