SPAM YOUR FOCUS ELEMENT IS FUNNY? - SPLINTERLANDS [PT-BR/ENG]

VERSÃO EM PORTUGUÊS
(nativo)

SISTEMA NOVO

Agora as coisas mudaram.

  • Pontos de Temporada;
  • Pontos de Focus;
  • Dark Energy Crystal.

https://publicdomainvectors.org/tn_img/Off-Balance-Scale.webp

Deixe-me elucidar melhor essa ideia:

  • Exemplo 1
    : o jogador A está na liga Prata 1 e jogou 30 partidas hoje, tendo um Win Rate de 90%, ou seja, 27 vitórias. Destas vitórias apenas 5 delas foi utilizando seu Focus Element.

    Suas recompensas foram:
    - +27 baú de temporada;
    - 54 DEC;
    - +4 baús diários.

  • Exemplo 2
    : o jogador B está na liga Prata 1 e jogou 30 partidas hoje, tendo um Win Rate de 50%, ou seja, 15 vitórias. O seu Focus Element foi utilizado em 12 dessas vitórias.

    Suas recompensas foram:
    - +19 baú de temporada;
    - 30 DEC;
    - +11 baús diários.

  • Resultado:

  • Exemplo 3
    : o jogador A está na liga Prata 1 e jogou 30 partidas hoje, tendo um Win Rate de 90%, ou seja, 27 vitórias. Destas vitórias apenas 5 delas foi utilizando seu Focus Element.

    Suas recompensas foram:
    - +5 baú de temporada;
    - 54 DEC;
    - +4 baús diários.

  • Exemplo 4
    : o jogador B está na liga Prata 1 e jogou 30 partidas hoje, tendo um Win Rate de 50%, ou seja, 15 vitórias. O seu Focus Element foi utilizado em 12 dessas vitórias.

    Suas recompensas foram:
    - +3 baú de temporada;
    - 30 DEC;
    - +11 baús diários.

  • Resultado:

ENGLISH VERSION
(translate google)

Today I just want to have an unpretentious chat to reflect a little on the new daily quest system of Splinterlands, the Focus Element. I decided to talk about this because you are with me a certain pattern and you are uncomfortable with the idea of sharing this feeling to see if you are something similar.

I hope you like these ideas and if possible leave your opinions in the comments, because these are the ideas that can foster new ways of understanding and using the system.

FOCUS ELEMENT

The new system is simple and "a little" similar to the previous one. You receive a specific element and are encouraged to play with it to earn chests. But there is a big difference that impacts the way we play our games.

OLD SYSTEM

When a new mission you aimed to get 5 victories with this element. This amount is small compared to the average amount of games we should play each day to optimize our ECR usage an average of 30-35 games daily).

That is, simply in making your best compositions that you can find a match, exactly, in making your best compositions, the mission element fits, you don't even have to force yourself to repeat the element every game.

NEW SYSTEM

Now like big things. Upon receiving your Focus Element you must win with it to receive chests, but the win limit is no longer 5. You must win again and again and again with your element to farm as many chests as possible .

That way you are encouraged to always repeat the same element for daily chests and this ends up keeping you totally limited and taking a lot of the fun out of the strategic possibilities.

AND WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

If your mission is Water, you only play with that element every game, even those that aren't so favorable for your element, AND THAT'S BORING!

Can you tell me that playing with just your element is not necessary and you can still vary, but is it worth it?

When we currently win a match in Splinterlands, we receive 3 types of rewards:

  • Season Points;
  • Points of Focus;
  • Dark Energy Crystal.

When playing with an element other than your Focus you will only receive Season Points and DECs. At the beginning of the season it is even relevant to do this because the Season Points will increase your number of chests of the season, but as the days go by the amount of points needed to get the next chest becomes exorbitant to the point of being unfeasible to play with random elements just to farm season chests.

And I don't even need to talk about DEC, right? The amount gained per victory is pretty paltry and doesn't compare to the rewards of a daily chest. That is, when you win a game with a random element you will earn Season Points that are not relevant due to the amount required when accumulating many chests and a very small amount of DEC, almost irrelevant.

Already a victory using your Focus Element will earn you the two rewards mentioned above and also the Focus Points that will earn you a fraction of a chest or even more than one chest.

https://publicdomainvectors.org/tn_img/Off-Balance-Scale.webp

So when we compare and put it on the balance, we will have very biased results in the direction of the Focus Element.

  • A victory with your Focus Element will earn you an average of 1 daily chest, Season Points and DEC.
  • A win with a random element will earn you Season Points and DEC.

It's worth spending your ECR trying and trying to win with your Focus because it will give you more chests (and consequently more rewards) than winning with random elements and having only one "artificial victory", since in the end you will receive less rewards than someone who had a lower Win Rate but won more games with their Focus. Let me clarify this idea better:

(Assume an average of 2 DECs and 9,000 Rewards Points per win and season chests zeroed in the example quoted below)

  • Example 1
    : Player A is in Silver League 1 and has played 30 matches today, having a Win Rate of 90%, ie 27 wins. Of these wins, only 5 of them were using his Focus Element.

His rewards were:

  • +27 season chest;

  • 54 DEC;

  • +4 daily chests.

  • Example 2
    : Player B is in Silver League 1 and has played 30 matches today, having a Win Rate of 50%, ie 15 wins. His Focus Element was used in 12 of those wins.

Your rewards were:

  • +19 season chest;

  • 30 DEC;

  • +11 daily chests.

  • Result:
    : When considering the season chests initially zeroed, using random elements yielded 1 chest and 24 DEC more than just focusing on your Focus Element.

Now let's start looking at a mid-season scenario where season chests already require a lot more points to earn.

(Assume an average of 2 DECs and 9,000 Rewards Points per win and season chest count from 60 in the example quoted below)

  • Example 3
    : Player A is in Silver League 1 and has played 30 matches today, having a Win Rate of 90%, that is, 27 wins. Of these wins, only 5 of them were using his Focus Element.

His rewards were:

  • +5 season chest;

  • 54 DEC;

  • +4 daily chests.

  • Example 4
    : Player B is in Silver League 1 and has played 30 matches today, having a Win Rate of 50%, ie 15 wins. His Focus Element was used in 12 of those wins.

His rewards were:

  • +3 season chest;

  • 30 DEC;

  • +11 daily chests.

  • Result:
    : When considering season chests from 60, using the Focus Element as much as possible yielded 5 chests plus and minus 24 DEC than using random elements.

THE BEST IS RELATIVE

Even though example 3 has achieved 90% Win Rate against only 50% of example 4, he will receive less rewards for not spamming his Focus Element, and this result will continue to get worse as the season progresses.

And there's another aggravating factor for people who use rental cards: prices are astronomical. It is unfeasible to assemble varied compositions to diversify, encouraging the player to stay in the element of their mission.

image.png

In the end, the best option is to play as much as possible with your Focus Element and make good rentals with it to increase your Win Rate, but...

Is spamming an element multiple times really the best way to play Splinterlands? She certainly isn't the most fun, which is precisely why I'm creating this post to raise this question.

FINAL CONSIDERATIONS

The new system was right in many economic aspects that will certainly generate good results for the game, but in terms of fun I consider it a certain setback because it totally limited the player, preventing him from enjoying all the versatility that Splinterlands offers.

Thank you so much to everyone who read this far, I hope you enjoyed it. If you like my content, I ask you to send your vote on the post and follow my profile so you can read future posts.

The new Reward system is definitely teaching me how to play each Splinter better. But the game is taking up a lot more time and competition is fierce in higher leagues. Also bots aren't nearly as effective, they have been 'shut down' for now.

Unfortunately, that's what happen in any game: playing the "meta" is the way that earns you the most reward, thus everyone just copycat the meta strategies, killing the diversity.

!PIZZA !PGM !LUV

I have to admit that boredom isn't even something that registered for me when considering the shift to an element focus reward system. If anything, it felt like a natural transition given how most card games involve building up one deck, then another, etc.

It would be great if you could pick your focus but opt into a random focus for a very slight bonus to RP earning. That way everyone can pick the deck(s) the like, but more skilled players can receive a slight bump in earnings by letting RNG take the wheel.
