A Nice Christmas Surprise

A Very Unique Christmas

Well, I admit that the holidays are not my thing. I am not charismatic, and my Christmas spirit does not exist; even though I was born on December 21. If it were up to me, I would not celebrate this noisy and annoying day, however, my son David loves Christmas; it is his favorite festive date for union and gifts.

He is a thrilled boy; definitely, that quality did not take it out of me. Charlotte; my wife, is so happy about our son's radiant personality. David wrote another letter for Santa Claus, he wants to mail it himself. It doesn't seem like a good idea for me to accompany me, but Charlotte frowns at me if I don't comply with our son's whim.

Sigh…

It's not easy being a parent, you know? When your children are young, you only want a safe environment for them where they can function; free from the cruelties of reality, but that is inevitable, once they grow up and realize it. David wanted me to write a letter to Santa too, so I did.

The tedious moment has arrived...

David was so excited because I had written a letter to Santa that he wouldn't let me finish my cup of coffee that morning. We arrived at the post office, the receiver was a very good friend of mine. David, grinning from ear to ear, handed the letters to the manager, and we both walked out smiling.

Christmas Eve for the desperate...

David was really excited, he kept jumping everywhere, while Charlotte and I enjoyed a delicious coffee after a delicious dinner. She looked at me smiling and in that instant I realized that I had done a good job. I knew that the real Santa was not going to come, of course I did not believe in his existence, but I was pretending because David did believe it, with all the impetus of his heart. Santa was to him like a superhero with the power to save the world; like Superman, so he couldn't break his illusions, so I did something about it.

I hired a man to dress up as Santa and come to my house on Christmas Eve. The man arrived on time; as we had agreed. His costume was impressive, even Charlotte was very excited to see him. David hugged him and invited him to sit on the sofa. Charlotte served him a cup of coffee, while the old man told hilarious stories.

I smiled out of the corner of my eye and just looked at David; I had never seen him so happy.

“I have read your letter David, and I thought it was so beautiful that at your father's request I had to come see you,” Santa said. My son watched me with a huge smile and sparkling eyes. Then he fixed his gaze on the fat old man again.

“So, are you going to give a Merry Christmas to all the poor and orphans in the world?!” David said out loud. Charlotte and I widened our eyes after hearing it. We were surprised. We thought that he had asked for some toy or some money to complete his savings.

David lowered his head somewhat sadly and continued. "At school, there are two children who are very poor and their family does not celebrate Christmas because they do not have enough money, this year I would like that to change, please, I know you can do it!"

Santa gave a slight smile and shook David's hair; and from his hair I saw how colored sparks came out.

"I will, dear David," Santa said softly.

My eyes and Charlotte's were wet with tears, we prevented any from escaping so as not to ruin the moment. We chatted with Santa for a while longer until he had to leave. I thanked the man before he left for his cordiality and good work; the night went better than expected.

While I was helping my wife wash the dishes, I heard a knock on the door. The last sip of coffee was waiting for that moment.

Opening the door, I found another man dressed as Santa standing in front of me.

"I offer you a thousand apologies, I know I'm very late, I'll refund your money if you wish..." Said the stranger.

"As you say? Were you the one I hired?"

"Yes sir, and again I apologize for the delay."

"Can not be!" I exclaimed confused. “Then who was the person who…?” I stopped to look at the night sky, because something extraordinary caught my attention: a beam of yellow light carried on it a sleigh, pulled by huge reindeer led by a man in a red suit.

Your story captures my imagination and catapults it into the stratosphere, to fly there with Santa on his sleigh.

Really cute twist
