Attended a homeroom meeting at school

Ohayo! πŸ₯°βœ¨πŸ™πŸΌ
Everyday is a challenge being a mom. I only have one child but I already feel the hardship. He's a nine year old boy and currently studying in the fourth grade in elementary school. It's only my son but there's so much to consider. One of my challenges this year is how to really divide my body as a 24/7 mom, and a 4th year student. Not including the time for side hustles and other extra work I do as an acad commissioner at Facebook. I feel that 24 hours a day is really not enough because of the amount of things my world demands of me.

My son is a late bloomer so as a grade four student, he seems to be the most baby among his classmates. But lately, I've been letting him decide on his own, like when I organize his bag before going to school, prepare his snack box and sometimes let him wash the dishes. I always tell him that he is a big boy and he needs to be independent. Gladly, I can see the potential for him to mature a little bit since the beginning of class in grade four.

Anyway, let me share with you what happened the other day. After I picked my son in his school, I went back to attend the parent's homeroom meeting. When the weather is not hot and humid, I always walk. There is a shortcut to their school and I am very impressed with this community every time I walk. Because not all communities here in our area are well-maintained by the barangay officers. Here in this community, I always see some oldies sweeping the road. The air is also fresh because every house I pass is full of plants and trees.

Babala means a warning. It says there that it is strictly forbidden to bathe in the river because firstly, its cleanliness is no longer maintained and secondly, I do believe that the river is taking some life. There are some myths about this river and one of the true stories that I believe is the mermaids. When the river was very clean, there were always fishermen here and some of the elders here tells stories about mermaids. Even our grandmother used to tell us that story. In fact, my dad was one of those who was almost taken by this river. I remember that my father drowned here but he survived because of his friends. Well, these are just some of the stories I remember.

Another warning posted is that motorcycles are not allowed to pass here. I don't know why but I think the chairman doesn't want to turn their beautiful community into a parking lot.

And here's a famous Lambingan station. I am not sure if this ferry station is still operating but some people say yes. I have never ridden here because the route is always far. When I was little this ferry station was standing and I admire its staff because up to now, even if you don't see people working inside it is still very clean. If it is operating, I am looking forward to ride at least once.

Right across from it is my son's school. There is also a daycare next to the Ferry station and it is for children below 5 years old. Correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I know, children below 5 years old cannot attend elementary school, that is why there is a daycare school in every barangays.

After some strolling, I already reached my son's school. Actually, I don't want to attend school gatherings early because there are so many topics being discussed. Sometimes the aspirations are not realistic anymore but of course, I know the school is still trying their best to give our children the right guidance. One of the agendas that was discussed in this meeting was the proper hand washing of children and the wearing of face masks. Lately there has been news of a disease which is called Nipah Virus. As far as I know, there are no cases of this in the Philippines and I hope that if the virus enters, the Department of Health and even the government will be prepared. I don't want to go back to quarantine so I hope our national government will take action and pay attention to this.

Many other topics were discussed but I can't recall much because I felt sleepy while listening to the speakers on stage. After an hour it also ended. But the discussion did not end here because the second agenda was the homeroom meeting with our children's class advisers.

Our children were one of the lucky students who were the first to use their school's new building. We also waited several years before it was built and this year, several grade levels finally used the new and beautiful building.

But of course, I won't go home without pictures of their building because my mom wants to see it too. It's interesting because the air is fresh here and you can see the gigantic buildings of Mandaluyong and Makati City. You can also see the long bridge that connects Mandaluyong and Sta. Ana Manila.

The new building is also safe for children because the grills are high to protect naughty children. Every time I take my son to school, I look here from the waiting shed of their school. Good thing because he's a bit afraid of heights so he doesn't look up here.
And here is the hallway of their grade. In this entire hall, only grade four students attended class. The rooms are also very tidy and have proper air ventilation. It's also fun as a parent that the room my child studies in is beautiful and complete.

What makes this even better is that since this is a public establishment, tuition is free. One of the topics discussed was moms' contributions to window curtains, which is not anything bad at all. Following that, we had the officer elections. I'm glad I'm not on the list since I don't want any extra responsibilities.

Anyways, this is where my blog ends. See you at my next gala! πŸ€πŸ€

Your child's school and the area where it is located look nice.
I used to enjoy participating in the activities at my son's school when he was a child, and it is something I miss from time to time. Time goes by fast and children grow up. And are stages that we go through as parents, and we have to try to enjoy all of them.

Me too, my son always present to his school activities especially boy scout. But to parent association, I am sometimes not there because of the other roles I have as a working/student mom as well. But even I failed to attend at some parent meetings and agenda, I always make sure that I am updated. Good thing his adviser understands my situation. πŸ’“πŸ’“

What a challenging responsibility indeed ate. Anyway, I've been hearing about Nipah Virus too and it literally sends chill to my body because it seems worst than Covid :<< I pray and hope na wag makapasok sa bansa natin.

They say nipah virus is more deadly but I highly doubt that. Maybe they just want to scare us. I believe that there are more other virus that are still unknown but once we became immune, we can already live with that.

Wow! A working student momma! Great job. Make sure to give yourself at least an hour of me time. Go, magkape ka. Deserve mo yan.:)

My kid and I are reading Severino Reyes' Ang mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang and wr just finished the story of Ang Sirena ng Uli -Uli. Apparently, every now and then, there's whirlpools happening in rivers na humihigop ng kung sino man ang andun. La lang. Naremember ko lang. Dahil sa sirena part nitong post mo. Haha

Thank you @romeskie, actually kada labas ko tamang foodtrip ako at milktea. then pag uwi, ayun balik sa pagiging ulirang ina.

omooo,,, there's a lot of mysteries talaga sa mga surface of waters no, no doubt bakit wala pang 15% ung nadidiscovered sa waters sa buong mundo. Whirlpool, I remember nakakita nak o mismo nyan dito din sa ilog. Nakakatakot siya sa totoo lang lalo na pag nalaman mong high percent ng ilog pasig is purely basura na ang ilalim tapos may whirlpool bigla.

I have three schoolers that I need to send and pick up from school Monday to Friday. :D Stay-at-home mom here with side hustles. Being a mom takes a lot of energy.

I'll be attending a PTA Meeting this Saturday too but I'll also need my husband with me because we have three homeroom PTA meetings to attend. We have to manage how to attend the 3 meetings lol

Being a mom is a challenging and demanding role, and it's clear that you're juggling a lot between being a full-time mom, a student, and your other responsibilities. Your nine-year-old son's growth and development are important, and it's great that you're encouraging his independence and maturity. It's essential to strike a balance between your various roles and responsibilities.
