Silence is golden
Hello, my Hive friends, I am @utymarvel and this is going to be my first post to the Minimalist Community. I am glad to be a part of this community. I would like to be sharing my opinions on silence as a virtue.
The power of silence in today's society is always underestimated. Most times, we feel silence means an indirect way of insulting someone or even keeping malice with someone.
Especially from where I come from, silent people are often perceived to be dangerous and wicked sects. The lifestyle of talking back in the face of controversies seems to be preferred in my locality. Funnily enough, you could further complicate issues or make yourself an enemy of someone as a result of always talking back.
Silence is and should be a vital weapon or defense mechanism during a controversial period. A lot of people don't agree with this because there's a misconception about being bold and not being able to deploy anger successfully
I'll explain
Being bold is different from being angry. Being bold means having strong confidence or willingness to do something or saying something without minding the risks and stigmatization. Boldness means being able to speak out or act even when you are aware of the danger awaiting you.
Bold people take risks that in turn favour them.
On the other hand, not being able to deploy anger successfully means flaring up at the slightest provocation. While trying to do that you could say demeaning things to a person or perform irreversible actions. Anger can lead to an act of wickedness or evil ruse.
Now silence goes a long way in fixing these two situations. I use silence as a strategy to curb or tame anger. I don't have anger issues but most times I just let silence do a better job. People see this as a vice but it is better than Taking regrettable actions.
Speech is silver but silence is golden
It is always good to talk, but it is not advisable to talk every time and in all situations. Some things are meant to be left unsaid.
Now asides from temperament issues, the ability to stay quiet is a great virtue. It is advisable to be silent
Be silent about a particular project you are handling, it is better seen than heard. The results will tell the efforts and resources you channeled into it.
Your Medical issues shouldn't be announced to the world
Your relationship, marriage, and family crisis are meant to be kept silent.
Your income and finances are meant to be kept away from people.
Whatever your next move is, let it be between you and yourself. It is better to celebrate a noiseless victory than to spread the process around
Most things are better left unsaid, it is advisable we stay silent
