Facebook killers: Hive tops List of Five web3 challengers ready to disrupt web2 social media

No doubt that web3 will soon swallow up web2. It's just a a matter of TIME!

An interesting recent tweet suggesting web23 projects that seek to overtake a rival web2 version got me mentioning in my reply that the web3 version of Facebook is Hive while the web3 version of YahooFinance is LeoFinance.

  • @facebook --> @hiveblocks
  • @YahooFinance --> @FinanceLeo

Just then I remembered a a recent article by YahooFinance trying to mention what the author themed "'Facebook killers': Top five web3 challengers ready to disrupt social media", among which Hive was mentioned and positioned as the Fifth, actually last in his list and it occurred to me that there is a secret fight against decentralization and web3 emancipation by web2 rivals.

laughable is the fact that the author had the courage to mention two newly launched platforms, one of them barely active for just one week - Niche and Authencity ahead of projects that have existed since 2016 with track record of community governance with no history of security bridge.

Niche and Authencity are yet to pass the social acceptance, security, community-driven governance tests that qualifies it to be termed a web3 platform, but politics and paid advertorial would find a way to get them publicized.

However, I sincerely, wish to thank Brian McGleenon and Daniel Fessahaye for finding it hard to ignore Hive in that list. If it were possible, we won't have had a mention of Hive not because is shouldn't be on the list, but Hive is actually a convergence of all that the other Four platforms can offer. Truth is that all our rants about Hive and Hive based projects have been seen but it's been ignored but for how long will they?

It allows users to publish and monetise their original content as well as join communities, post comments, and manage their wallets all in a decentralised and trustless manner.

I beg to bring to light and put in right perspective a few things I noticed in the description of Hive in that lopsided content as a Facebook killer.

This post was just a courteous critique of the presentation by Yahoo Finance, the web2 version of Hive's LeoFinance. The part 2 & 3 of this post is coming soon.

I don't believe the intent of the Yahoo! article was to rank the sites. They're listed in random order, and I think the reason is because the authors aren't familiar enough with any of them to know what their true values are. The reporting was so sloppy that, initially, the authors attributed Hive to Justin Sun, who's had nothing to do with Hive at all and was the catalyst for Hive forking from Steemit, an event which the Yahoo! authors didn't even mention.

In short, it was a fluff piece. But thank God they mentioned Hive!

Whatever was their intention. It excites me that Hive was mentioned. That's already a great marketing.

Yes, even bad publicity is publicity. So they say. I was glad to see Hive make their list.

Hi @uyobong
Hive is like a huge giant moving step by step to take on all forms of web2 social media.
I have always believed this and do my bit to promote hive via my posts and hope I can reach out to more people and help them benefit from the decentralized powerful hive that is to be experienced to be believed.
