[ESP-ENG] Concurso LOH #100, Cuando un vicio desencadena una enfermedad mental
Un saludo caluroso y ameno a todos los hivers y a toda la comunidad @ladiesofhive 🤗, en est oportunidad acudí al llamado de la querida @mllg quien me hizo la invitación a participar de este nuevo concurso en su edición #100. Casi de inmediato me conecte y puse en marcha todos esos recuerdos de una no tan grata experiencia la cual les contaré a través de la pregunta número 1 del concurso esta vez formulada por @trangbaby.

Así que de inmediato daré respuesta a la interrogante #1 con la cual pude identificarme y que además me toco vivir:
1.-¿Sabes cómo ser un defensor efectivo de tu ser querido o amigo cuando está lidiando con un problema de salud mental? ¿Sabe cómo responder, a quien contactar para obtener ayuda? ¿Alguna vez te has enfrentado a un desafío así?
Hay un término un poco despectivo con respecto al miembro de la familia que se sale del molde, que se desencarrila, que por su dudosa conducta lo llaman "la oveja negra de la familia", eso fue mi primo Yamil, quien siendo el menor de 3 hermanos opto por tomar malas decisiones y acciones desde muy joven.
Entre esas cosas optó por consumir drogas desde esas que ofrecen los "amigos" del barrio "para relajarse", hasta el momento que se vuelve tan dependiente que no le basta con una sino que opta por probar todas y cada una de ellas, hasta el punto de tirar su vida por la borda.
Al salir del bachillerato la situación empeoró porque no duraba mucho tiempo en los trabajos antes de que lo encontrarán consumiendo en cualquier parte del establecimiento, o robando dinero de la caja registradora solo para comprar su cuota diaria de vicio.
Y ustedes se preguntaran ¿Que tiene que ver esto con una enfermedad mental?, y ahí va la respuesta. Al llegar a una edad adulta y luego de haber probado cuanta droga conoció, comenzó a oler gasolina, pegante, varsol y muchos otros químicos de olor fuerte que pudo, hasta que comenzó a volverse más agresivo, a desvariar, no reconocía personas, se reía solo, golpeaba las paredes y hasta jugaba con sus propias heces.

Gracias a la cantidad de tóxicos que consumió y acumulo en su cuerpo terminó por quemarse las neuronas con el consumo excesivo de "bazuco o piedra", también padece de esquizofrenia según el dictamen médico. Por supuesto que fue una experiencia traumatica, dura y difícil para toda la familia, no queremos ver nunca a un familiar sumido en algo tan terrible. Lo peor es que no hay vuelta atrás, tuvieron que internarlo en una clínica psiquiátrica.
Algunos familiares pensaron en pedir la ayuda del gobierno y así lo hicieron pero no fue mucho lo que pudieron hacer por él. De allí surgió la idea de buscar una clínica privada para la atención de mi primo y allí fue cuando comenzó todo el calvario.
Mi tía se sumió tanto en la desesperación por lo sucedido con su hijo que descuidó por completo y se entregó a la tristeza, enfermó y la situación no paraba de empeorar. Debido a que mi primo siempre estaba medicado en la clínica estaba calmado y sereno, pero siempre somnoliento, casi sin habla, como un zombie, debido a la cantidad de medicamentos para calmar su agresividad.
Al final mi tía decidió sacarlo de allí, llevarlo a su casa, pero su nivel de violencia lo llevó a golpear a su propia madre, todo por la dependencia del vicio. Entre costear los elevados precios de los medicamentos y dejar la puerta de la calle cerrada para que no se saliera a consumir o a robar pasaba los días la familia.
Cuando lograba escaparse se metía en problemas con los "mala conducta del barrio" y terminaba llegando golpeado a casa. Una vez se escapó y lo encerraron en una estación de la policía del centro porque se puso a robar, y tampoco recordaba ningún número de teléfono para contactar a la familia, mientras mi tía angustiada pensaba lo peor. Después de varios días lo encontraron.
Hoy en día aún siguen lidiando con lo que comenzó con un vicio y se convirtió en su destrucción mental, a eso sumándole la situación país y lo costoso de la vida. Allí sigue mi tía luchando todos los días por controlarlo, pidiendo ayuda en todas las entidades para los medicamentos de mi primo y sufriendo mucho con esto.
Mientras tenga sus pastillas al día está en un estado "normal", se le puede pedir ayuda para cosas de la casa y lo hace, aunque algunas veces despierta de madrugada golpeando las paredes y gritando pero es parte de ese proceso, según los médicos ya no puede razonar igual que antes, algunas veces sus reacciones son totalmente inesperadas y violentas.
La ayuda obtenida en su mayoría ha sido de la familia, el lugar donde estuvo recluido era privado así que tocaba pagar una mensualidad, no se si actualmente haya recibido alguna ayuda del gobierno o algo al respecto ya que hace 4 años no los he visto. A través de las redes sociales y mensajes es que he sabido un poco de su estado de salud.

Aunque ha sido difícil para todos, nunca imaginamos que lo que empezó como un dolor de cabeza por el consumo de drogas terminaría en un cuadro severo de esquizofrenia y ello terminaría con la paz de la familia.

Almost immediately I connected and put in place all those memories of a not so pleasant experience which I will tell you through the question number 1 of the contest this time formulated by @trangbaby.

So I will immediately give an answer to question #1 with which I could identify and that I also had to live:
1.-Do you know how to be an effective advocate for your loved one or friend when they are dealing with a mental health issue? Do you know how to respond, who to contact for help? Have you ever faced such a challenge?
There is a somewhat derogatory term regarding the family member who breaks out of the mold, who goes off the rails, who because of his dubious behavior is called "the black sheep of the family", that was my cousin Yamil, who being the youngest of 3 siblings opted to make bad decisions and actions from a very young age.
Among those things he chose to consume drugs from those offered by "friends" in the neighborhood "to relax", until the moment he became so dependent that one drug was not enough for him, he opted to try each and every one of them, to the point of throwing his life away.
When he got out of high school the situation worsened because he didn't last long on the jobs before he would be found consuming anywhere in the establishment, or stealing money from the cash register just to buy his daily quota of vice.
And you may wonder what this has to do with mental illness, and here's the answer. Upon reaching adulthood and after having tried every drug he knew, he began to smell gasoline, glue, varsol and as many other strong smelling chemicals as he could, until he began to become more aggressive, raving, not recognizing people, laughing to himself, punching walls and even playing with his own feces.

Thanks to the amount of toxins he consumed and accumulated in his body he ended up burning his neurons with excessive consumption of "bazuco or stone", he also suffers from schizophrenia according to the medical opinion. Of course it was a traumatic, hard and difficult experience for the whole family, we never want to see a family member submerged in something so terrible. The worst thing is that there is no turning back, he had to be admitted to a psychiatric clinic.
Some family members thought of asking for help from the government and they did so, but there was not much they could do for him. From there came the idea of looking for a private clinic for my cousin's care and that is when the whole ordeal began.
My aunt became so desperate because of what happened to her son that she completely neglected and gave in to sadness, she got sick and the situation did not stop getting worse. Because my cousin was always medicated at the clinic he was calm and serene, but always drowsy, almost speechless, like a zombie, due to the amount of medication to calm his aggressiveness.
In the end my aunt decided to get him out of there, to take him home, but his level of violence led him to beat his own mother, all because of his dependence on the vice. Between paying the high prices of the drugs and leaving the door to the street closed so that he would not go out to consume or steal, the family spent their days.

When he managed to escape he got into trouble with the "neighborhood misbehaviors" and ended up coming home beaten. Once he ran away and they locked him up in a police station downtown because he started stealing, and he didn't remember any phone number to contact the family either, while my anguished aunt thought the worst. After several days they found him.
Today they are still dealing with what started as a vice and became their mental destruction, adding to that the country's situation and the cost of living. My aunt is still struggling every day to control it, asking for help in all the entities for my cousin's medications and suffering a lot with this.
As long as he has his pills up to date he is in a "normal" state, he can be asked to help with things around the house and he does, although sometimes he wakes up in the wee hours of the morning hitting the walls and screaming but it is part of that process, according to the doctors he can no longer reason the same way he used to, sometimes his reactions are totally unexpected and violent.
Most of the help he has received has been from his family, the place where he was confined was private so he had to pay a monthly fee, I don't know if he has received any help from the government or anything about it since I haven't seen them for 4 years. Through social networks and messages is that I have known a little of his health.
Although it has been difficult for everyone, we never imagined that what started as a headache from drug use would end in a severe schizophrenia and that would end with the peace of the family.

Es una situación muy fuerte la que ha vivido tu primo y qué decir de tu tía y la familia. Lamento que ya no haya vuelta atrás en la salud mental de tu primo, realmente es un testimonio de lo grave que es consumir estupefacientes. Y es lamentable también que en el país no exista preocupación hacia este tipo de pacientes, no se preocupan por los llamados "normales" imagínate de los que padecen algún trastorno mental. Así es amiga @lilianajimenez, es fuerte que los gobiernos de muchos países se laven las manos con respecto a estos temas de las drogas, trastornos mentales y todo lo que deriva de los vicios o bien sea un mal congénito de la persona.
Lo más triste es que la situación no tiene mejoría y aún más difícil la agonía de conseguir la plata para los medicamentos. Pero bueno allí sigue luchando mi tía prácticamente sola con él hasta que Diis lo permita.

Que terrible de verdad, como el ser humano se hace daño, a veces me gusta creer que siempre hay algo más fuerte pasando en sus vidas para que tuvieran que llegar a esos extremos
Hola amiga @josehany, lo peor de todo es que la mayoría de los que se aventuran en ese mundo de las drogas no pueden salir, o mantienen un estado de vaivén, se rehabilitan un tiempo y recaen, y así. En el peor de los casos este de mi familiar que perdió todo lo que pudo ser en la vida por un vicio.

It a terrible situation and a difficult one, for sure. Drug abuse can be a painful experience—for the person who has the problem, and for family and friends who may feel helpless in the face of the disease. It is a chronic disease that requires lifestyle adjustments and long-term treatment.

That's right @silversaver888, it is something that in the long run the family has learned to cope and tolerate, although it is a situation that generates a lot of stress and uncertainty regarding her treatment and all that it requires. I hope that especially my aunt can have some peace and God gives her the strength to move forward with such a tough situation.

It is obvious that drug abuse is a serious problem in today's society. I've heard that many people especially teenagers use drugs in an attempt to numbed their pain or escape from difficult situations, but the reality is that drug abuse only creates more problems and leads to addiction, which is a very difficult thing to overcome.
I believe that there are many different treatment options available, and hopefully, with the right help, the boy can be overcome it and has a healthy and productive life.

Es una historia muy dolorosa, es una pesadilla para toda la familia y no puedo imaginar el dolor de su madre. Un ex compañero de clases vive una situación similar, sufre esquizofrenia a causa de las drogas, sus padres murieron, su única hermana terminó dejándolo solo en la casa de sus padres, porque él era violento con ella y sus hijas. Unos amigos se han hecho cargo de llevarle comida y colocarle tratamiento en su casa y ahí va, con sus días buenos y malos, pero mejor.
Es muy difícil lidiar con una situación así, cuando hay violencia el miedo y el sentido de supervivencia se apoderan de nosotros.
