Hello everybody, how is it going? It's time for more Battle Mage Secrets. Last week's sharing was on using all the critters of Splinterlands which are of 4 mana or less to their fullest in the Little League ruleset. This week the ruleset is yet another commonly encountered ruleset.

The ruleset of the challenge this week is: Lost Legendaries

Lost Legendaries
Legendary units may not be used. Legendary summoners are still available.

Abilities/Cards that get shutdown with this rule set
Similar to Little League sharing last week, Lost Legendaries is another ruleset that disable usage of cards of a certain criteria, in this case, it will be Legendary rarity cards.

What thrives with this ruleset?
In the absence Legendary cards, many of the usual problematic cards will not be seen in the likes of Kron, Oshannus, Harklaw, Queen Mycelia and also there will not be Fiends seen. For me, I will dig deep into the next rarity level which is the Epic cards. Many a times, these cards get overshadowed by Legendary cards when there weren't restrictions for them.

Because the ruleset only restrict the use of Legendary cards, usual protocol or best known methods still applies if there is a stacking ruleset on top of Lost Legendaries.

Below, I will share on some epic cards which you can consider including to handle this ruleset.

Prediction before pressing rumble
Fellow guild mate from PIZZA 2 meet. Very different lineup chosen, guild mate focused on magic attack while my lineup was more diverse.

Battle Synopsis

Round 1, Martyr was quickly activated after Marksrat was being hit. Things are looking a little tricky now as my Nerissa was stunned by Water Caller.

Round 2, My lineup survived this round, thankfully Nerissa was out of stun mode. But Axemaster is dangerously low on health after being sneaked by magic attack from Coral Wraith.

Round 3, Axemaster after shaving off opponent Nerissa health significantly, fell to the sneak magic of Coral Wraith. My cards looks dangerously low in HP at 1 HP for Nerissa and Wave Runner.

Round 4, Wave Runner finished off Water Caller but fell to blast from Riverboat Captain. My lineup is hanging by a thin line, surviving on Merdaali's healing.

Round 5, This round, I am down to the last card with Merdaali killed. Will things turn for the better?

Round 6 onwards, Nerissa had enough health from the final heal from Merdaali previously and powered through to zap off every single card on my opponent side to land the victory.

Post Battle Summary
Whew, that was one close battle. The Bortus used by my guild mate did make Nerissa less scary but thankfully, I had an array of diverse attack cards to not get negatively buffed by Bortus for the whole lineup.

Did my strategy work? Yes, on a typical day when I can use Legendary, you will see me using Djinn Oshannus but today with this ruleset, I adapted and put in my Epics with the likes of Nerissa Tridawn and Axemaster whom did well and did what they need to do.

What's the Battle Mage Secret?
Many a times, when no restriction is placed, we often overlook cards that are of lower rarity and only focus at those that we always use. So in the ruleset where there is no legendary cards to be used, we look into our arsenal and used epic cards to allow them to shine.

2 things we saw today, one is the diverse lineup to prevent a single debuff to affect the whole team and next is that there are really good epic cards out there to be used. Coral Wraith is good which I will consider for myself on top of what I've used in Nerissa and Axemaster. Let's not always depend on certain legendaries but to know our arsenal throughout to know what to deploy upon every ruleset and this is the battle mage secret that I would like to share today.
