Rising Star Journal - Road to Fans Millionaire #42 + Artiste Spotlight + Giveaway

Greetings everyone, how has the week been for all of you? I have had a great week and going to start a giveaway in this post after coming so far into the game. In today's post, I will continue doing Artiste spotlight that I love listening to, some updates/thoughts on my game progress and finally how to take part in the giveaway.

Artiste Spotlight

The artiste that I will be featuring today will be Boney M. They are a German disco and Euro-Caribbean vocal group that gained widespread popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The name of the band might sound foreign too to many but when you hear some of the songs, you might go like, "Hey, I know this song!"

The group was formed by German producer Frank Farian and it featured four vocalists in the band: Liz Mitchell, Marcia Barrett, Maizie Williams, and Bobby Farrell. Along the way, Bobby Farrell left the band and was replaced by Reggie Tsiboe.

Boney M's music is characterized by its catchy melodies, danceable rhythms, and a fusion of disco with elements of reggae, funk, and pop. Their songs often incorporated catchy hooks, repetitive choruses, and a blend of various musical influences, making them a hit on the dance floors of the disco era. In modern day context, I do also see songs such as Poker Face by Lady Gaga and Lonely by Akon also taking up the repetitive chorus and catchy hooks concept to make it popular with the listeners. To get a particular tune to be popular, just sounding nice might not be sufficient, some elements of catchiness do help to make the tune become popular.

For me, I wasn't born when they were active but due to a coincidence in listening to one of their songs on YouTube, it led me to dive in a find out more about their songs and from then on, I enjoy listening to their songs as they really helped me to unwind when work becomes too stressful.
