Prelude
Hello everybody, how is everyone doing? In today's share your battle post, I am going to do a little different, will be sharing not from a particular card perspective but more on a ruleset perspective together with 2 card abilities. This battle sharing will be done based on my Earth Splinter lineup, unfortunately I haven't start working on the levelling up of my Earth Splinter cards, rest assured, in the near future I will be working on them.

Thoughts on Equaliser

Definition
The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.

Thoughts
Field your low health cards that are jammed pack with abilities as they will survive longer. Best if can include abilities such as life leech etc. I've seen other posting about equaliser where Death Splinter having good advantage due to their low health cards which possess good abilities. However, today I would like to bring about a sharing based on 2 key abilities that surrounds Earth Splinter which is lacking in Death Splinter - Tank Heal and Triage.

Abilities
Focus abilities this time will be Tank Heal and Triage.

Tank Heal

Definition: Restores a portion of the Monster in the first position's health each round

Heal Amount: Restores 1/3 of the max health, rounded up.

Triage

Definition: Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage

Heal amount: Heal is max health divided by 3, rounded down. Minimum is 2.

Opponent Lineup

  • Summoner - Thaddius Brood
  • Position 1 - Dark Ha'on
  • Position 2 - Revealer
  • Position 3 - Parasitic Growth
  • Position 4 - Undead Badger
  • Position 5 - Weirding Warrior
  • Position 6 - Cornealus

Prediction before pressing rumble
Wow, so shiny and equally scary lineup I am facing. Dark Ha'on is one awesome front tank, coupled with all the backline my opponent have, I foresee a difficult match.

Let's get ready to rumble
Round 1, Plenty of punishment unleashed towards Slipspawn but it survived and all in tact.

Round 2, After so much punishment, Slipspawn fell but Dark Ha'on fell too. With both damage soaker taken out, how will thinks change?

Round 3, This round, it is rather quiet with exchanges in damage across both sides. Lichen Beast was stunned this round.

Round 4, While Lichen Beast do have a decent amount of health, it couldn't last through the round with the stun status and fell.

Round 5, Revealer fell this round, Parasitic Growth and Undead Badger aiming at Spirit Hoarder but the triage restored Spirit Hoarder to full health.

Round 6, No major changes but Regal Peryton took a few damage but was healed off. All ok at the backline as well. Both front and backline secure.

Round 7, Regal Peryton made it a tough one to land a hit on with Weirding Warrior and Cornealus drawing blanks.

Round 8, Parasitic Growth fell this round, leaving Undead Badger to front my lineup.

Round 9/10, Various exchanges saw Undead Badger falling with my lineup still in tact.

Round 11-22, Yes this match went to round 22 because of Cornealus healing ability. Both Cornealus and Weirding Warrior fell after long durations and fatigue on Cornealus drawing the game to a close. Victory secured!

After Thoughts

It's been a while since I had a match that went to over 20 rounds and facing such a crazy lineup. While my opponent used a very good lineup in Death Splinter combined with neutral cards, something stood out which enabled my team to last the game, the tank heal and triage.

If we relook at the how this game went, when my opponent fielded Dark Ha'on and Cornealus, it effectively brought the whole health bar to above 12, which effectively mean, any form of healing (see above for healing amount) to heal 4 health. Throughout the whole match, I lost my 2 tanks in the form of Lichen Beast and Mycelic Slipspawn, not forgetting the additional armour from Queen Mycelia which further sustained the lineup in a weak magic rule set.

Then, we examine my opponent's lineup, there isn't any form of healing other than that of Cornealus and the healing is for Cornealus itself rather than the rest of the lineup. This exposed the weakness of that lineup for long run battles and bit by bit, each card is being taken out without being able to be refreshed. Therefore, it brings to a conclusion that while it is important to field low health cards to capture the benefits of the Equaliser rule set, we also need prepare for long fights by having some form of healing.

Did my strategy work in this game? Totally! The tank heal and triage effectively gave me and front and back protection. Together with it was the Mycelic Slipspawn to take backline damage and Queen Mycelia's protect ability. Not to forget that Equaliser boosted the healing amount significantly.

Will I be using such a lineup in the future? While the effectiveness of this lineup was greatly elevated in an Equaliser rule set, on its own, this lineup is actually very viable for Earth Splinter, capturing the gains from front and back heal to ensure we can outmuscle other lineups.

Therefore, something to note is that while we want to capture the benefits of Equaliser rule set by fielding lower health cards, do consider adding some healing in the form of tank heal or triage to improve sustainability of the lineup.
