Social Media Challenge - Embracing Glint

Prelude
Good day to all, how are all of you doing? This week, we bid goodbye to the old focus chest system and welcome the Glint rewards system. Do you like it or still prefer to the old focus chest system? No matter how, Glint is here and let's embrace it. Today's post will have a discussion on Glint and also a battle sharing.

Embracing Glint
Having played Splinterlands for quite some time, I have gone through the various rewards system. From the number of chest dependent on the league and CP of each individual to the focus chest system and now the Glint system.

Certainly I have to salute to the developers from consistently collecting feedback from the community to make improvements to the game. And that is why we have evolution of the rewards system from what it used to be to what it is today. And no matter what reward system that is present, due to the pace/progress of the game of various players, there is no one size fit all. But somehow with the Glint rewards system, there is a better control of what kind of rewards that one want to work towards.

The Glint Shop

As you can see, with a shop system, it has reduced the amount of randomness. For those of you whom have played Splinterlands long enough, is the below screenshot familiar to you?

image.png

Playing all day and getting potions, many of us would have been cursing and swearing that all in a day's effort, we get a little merit and potions. However, there might others whom want it, such as people accumulating merits to open Gladius packs or even to open booster where these potions increase changes of legendary or gold foil.

Now, with a shop system, it helps you to be more targetted at what you are aiming for, though there is still some form of randomness in the cards that you will get from a card draw (but that's the thrill when we open booster packs isn't it?)

Shop Items

Lack of Soul Bound cards - The 5 different draws
Lack of Merits for Gladius pack - Buy Merits
Want to earn more SPS - Buy some energy
Planning to open various booster packs - Buy legendary or alchemy potions
Want some bragging rights - Buy the limited edition titles

Further Thoughts
This new system has way more control than to have a whole mountain of potions in the past. But something that I will miss is the lottery feel of opening a chest that has loads of SPS in it. Nevertheless, definitely a good change and helps new players to be more focused. And let's move on to a battle sharing on an interesting battle that I had over this week.

Today's Battle Sharing
Today's match I wanted to share is because it is something that I feel that I might not have win considering what my opponent put up but somehow I did.

Ruleset: Five Alive, Up Close and Personal, Tis But Scratches
Mana Limit: 35

Selection Analysis
For me, because it is Up Close and Personal ruleset, strategy was to use a Gladius summoner so that I can make use of the double attack capabilities of Quora. Next one that I consider will be Djinn Chwala due to its thorns. Another big gun that I deploy will be Carnage Titan which double strike hard and contain a big armour. Then finally a Fiend at the end to give Quora some defence padding.

To my horror, my opponent used Mylor which gave his whole team thorn which is very scary in a match where all the cards we used are melee cards. On top of that, opponent deploy 2 cards with shield, Mycelic Infantry and Dumacke Orc to absorb damage and return thorns. Opponent also used Disintegrator to debuff my melee attack and giving more survivability to his cards while pricking my cards. Last will be 2 cards that fill up the rest of the lineup.

From the way my opponent setup the lineup, it will be close to impossible that I can win this. Let's run through round by round and see how things evolved through the match.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - This round looked like I was knocking on a brick wall. With only Quora damage went through while my armours are all shredded due to the thorns for Djinn Chwala and almost all gone for Carnage Titan.

image.png

Round 2 - Another round of brick wall hitting but with the cripple ruleset, Myclic Infantry should be taken out next turn by Quora.

image.png

Turn 3 - While Mycelic Infantry is taken out, now we have to deal with the dodging of Nectar Queen and my cards are looking worryingly low in health from Chwala and Carnage Titan.

image.png

Round 4, Things still looking tough on my end with Djinn Chwala killed by thorns but we made significant progress for thinning down Nectar Queen's health.

image.png

Round 5, Nectar Queen falls and Carnage Titan fell as well. We are down to the last 3 cards on my opponent side.

image.png

Round 6 and 7, Dumacke Orc was taken out in round 6 because of its single health which was easy for Quora, then in round 7 Quora cleared both cards within a single turn to secure the victory.

Battle Summary
This match for the first 3 rounds looks so hard to win but somehow once the momentum is built and with Quora's self healing ability, as we defeat opponent card one by one, Quora got stronger and the ones remaining become easy to be taken out. When Quora grew to a high stats, thorns become insignificant and that is where Quora start bulldozing everyone else. All in all, a great matchup.

Wrap Up
It's time to embrace Glint as it takes stage and understand how it works. Might see less excitement than previous due to less randomness, but this method do help one to be much more focus in what you need from the Glint shop. Hope the battle sharing also help you understand more about some situations where Gladius can overturn a matchup and help you in your future battles.
