Salt water yabbie or crayfish?

On our last day at 1770 we went for a quick swim before our 4 hour drive to emu park. When we were in the water I noticed something crawling along the sand towards our towels.

Now I'm not 100% sure If this is a salt water yabbie or some kind of crayfish. None the less this guy didn't seem to mind me coming up close to him.

It was like he was sun baking on the sand. He sure has some heavy duty shell protection.

There was alot of fishermen fishing along the shore line, so I thought if one of them saw him they will use him as bait for sure!

So we kept an eye on him while we had a swim.

And once we got out I made sure he swam back into the water so he could live another day 😊
