Solar power skatepark ๐Ÿค™๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ

While we were exploring Magnetic Island off the coast of Townsville in Queensland Australia I came across this skatepark.

Now what makes this skatepark different from the rest is that it is covered by a solar farm. Which catches the sun's energy and converts it into power. The local community got together to make this happen and the end result is a 100kw solar farm that produces enough energy to power 22 home a day!

What a fantastic idea! Not only does this provide shade for the skatepark for the local youth to play in, but it also helps power the community and they even have lights on the roof to light up the park at night.

Unfortunately I didn't bring my skates with me on this trip but the park looks pretty cool.

It has some nice long coping, a spine and bowl erea, some flat banks, ledges and some rails. The perfect learning park to get your tricks dialed on.

In Queensland most skateparks are out in a field with hardly any shade. So this is such a brilliant idea!

This provides shade and power!

Also it wouldn't be a Northern Queensland skatepark with out a kangaroo chilling in the car park haha.

Hopefully other local Queensland governments will get behind this idea because it's a win win for everyone!!

What do you guys think about this idea?

Happy landings๐Ÿค™

In places where it snows it would keep the park clear for longer and could probably be heated from below if it wasn't snowing. Lots of potential for this idea even up here in Canada where winter limits the sun, the shelter poses a Valuable addition.

Yes that also would be a great option.
So much potential for a solar power roof over a skate park.
Sorry I can even imagine trying to skate when it's so cold that it snows. I have only seen snow twice in my life. Do you search for undercover spots or abandoned buildings and set up a diy? Or just wait until it warms up and no more snow?

Rubber grip tape lol

The crazy ones skate all winter long while their friends with snowboards wonder if something is wrong with them lol

This is a sick Thrasher part from Russia, they use the ice to make some tricks

At 2 minutes 30 seconds in that video is the best trick on ice imo

This is such a great idea!! Def think more skate parks in Qld (or anywhere super sunny) should adopt this idea ๐Ÿ’ก ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ›น๐Ÿ›ด๐Ÿ›ผ!!!

It would be amazing if more councils got onboard and did the same to all the skateparks with no shade!
