Whale watching from above at Moreton Bay 🇦🇺🐳

G'day hive,
I'm back again with some more humpback whale drone shots that I took with my DJI mini 2.

Here in Australia, it's humpback whale mating and migration season, and witnessing the awe-inspiring beauty of a whale and its calf swimming gracefully in the open sea is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Now Moreton Island, located off the eastern coast from Brisbane in Australia, offers a perfect vantage point for observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Especially off the northern Cape of Moreton Island.

My mate asked if I wanted to head out fishing with him as the weather conditions were perfect!
The water was extremely calm so we had an amazing day out on the water.

While we were fishing a huge spurt of mist erupted out of the water that sounded like an elephant blowing it's trunk. The water stirred then a huge tail broke the water's surface and slapped down onto the water with extreme force!
This was the perfect moment to fly my drone up to capture breathtaking moments of these gentle giants off the coast of Moreton Island.

Once I got a birds eye view of the humpback I was surprised to see it had a baby calf with her.

The calf was still very light grey so it must have only been a couple of days old.

The way the sunrays reflect through the deep blue water looks so amazing from above!

Also the way the sun was sparkling off the water made for some nice effects.

These whales seemed to like to spend their time swimming and relaxing along the current line.

Humpback whales migrate along Australia's east coast, typically between May and November. They travel from their feeding grounds in Antarctica to the warmer waters of Queensland to breed and give birth like this mum and calf here at Moreton bay.

I'm not going to lie I was super excited to be able to get these pics of the mum and calf just going about their day. It was very peaceful to watch.

For anyone that has had a swim in Moreton bay in the past month or so, you might have noticed the water is extra salty at the moment... This is due to the fact that its humpback whale mating season 😆 But don't let that krill your vibe 🐳🩵🐋
