That wonderful feeling of creating life and raising it

Hello bird lovers :)

I am very excited to publish my first post in thе Feathered Friends community. As you can see in my profile description, I love all kinds of animals, especially feathered ones.

Today I would like to present to you a story with a self-made video and pictures about the evolution of chickens from the laying of the eggs to the full growth of hens or roosters, with the special appearance of my lovely niece :)

In the village where my mother lives, we have been raising chickens for as long as I can remember but we used to rely on hens to incubate their own eggs which is not a very efficient process due to the vagaries of weather and nature. Therefore in the early spring of 2020, my brother and I decided to buy an аutomated egg incubator in order to help the hens in incubating their own eggs. For this purpose, my mother started collecting the eggs that the hens laid each day and stored them at room temperature until enough eggs were collected. Interestingly, the eggs should be no older than 5 days so we had to get some extra eggs from our neighbors.

At the beginning of April, we arranged the eggs in the incubator, set the temperature to 37.8 degrees Celsius, and started to count the days. After 20 days, the first chicks started hatching one by one. Interestingly, many of them cannot come out of their shells on their own and have to be helped. In nature, it is the hen who starts pecking the shells gently when she feels the chick is ready to come out. That is why we kept a constant vigil and helped with the coming out of the shells. In the video below, you can see one of us using his hand to separate a chick from the shell :)

To create life is wonderful. Of course, in reality, nature is who creates life, but being there and helping to bring a new wonderful creature into life is a great feeling.
