Coffee with a homey flavor

Hey.... Please don't think I'm trying to fool you with an empty cup, it's just that the cups I found at my sister's house are so small that my mother finished her coffee in an instant, well me too, I like it very hot and I drink it very fast.

My mother had many days without coffee, even though it is one of her weaknesses, however, she is on a pretty strict diet and we avoid giving her coffee, not so much because of the coffee itself, but because of the sugar, because she likes it pretty sweet and no matter how much love she has for coffee, if it is not sweet enough as she likes it, she won't drink it.

Some afternoons I offer her a little bit and she doesn't even think about it to say a huge yes. This time I made it with a little piece of papelón (typical of Venezuela made with sugar cane), it is said to be healthier than sugar, I boiled water with this product and ground coffee that one of my brothers brought her, only its delicious aroma gives away its quality.

My mother likes brewed coffee, even if she gets the latest coffee maker or the most luxurious greca, she will always prefer it filtered in the fabric, to tell the truth, the same thing happens to me in this particular case.

That day the coffee was delicious, and I think it is best enjoyed if it is served in porcelain or ceramic cups. At my sister's house, where my mother lives, they usually drink coffee in plastic cups, something I really dislike.

I searched and searched among the kitchen utensils and fortunately I found 2 beautiful little cups of perfect size so as not to tempt my mother with more than the amount she is recommended to consume at the moment.

I thought the coffee was too strong for her taste because she likes it light and very sweet, this one was a little dark and with just the right sweet touch, from my point of view, but she told me it was very tasty, and it is not very easy to please my mother when it comes to food and drinks. If she says it's tasty it's because she really liked it because otherwise she doesn't say anything even out of politeness.

Actually the papelón gives a delicious touch to the black coffee, it seems to emphasize the flavor much more.

Having a coffee sweetened with papelón while watching TV next to my mom are moments that I really treasure, I don't live with her and when I go to visit her I try to share as many things as possible, for sure these days she has been drinking coffee in plastic cups and she has missed my details as much as I miss her. Today I am going to visit her and we will share a delicious coffee just as she deserves it and that must include a beautiful cup.

That day I repeated and had one more cup. Today I'm going to make sure to bring some papelón so that my mom and I can once again share a really delicious coffee, with the smell and taste of home.
