Después de tanta locura y de regresar, de alguna forma, un poco más formal al trabajo, tuvimos la labor de recibir a los niños. Aunque en su mayoría sus madres no quisieron enviarlos, hubo algunos que sí asistieron. Más que todo fue un espacio de esparcimiento para ellos; no fueron clases cotidianas, por así decirlo. Fue un tiempo para escucharlos, para que nos contaran sus anécdotas y soltaran un poco tanto estrés y miedo acumulado.

​After so much madness and returning to work in a somewhat more formal way, we had the task of welcoming the children. Although most mothers preferred not to send them, a few did come. Above all, it was a recreational space for them; these weren't standard classes, so to speak. It was a time to listen to them, let them share their stories, and release some of their built-up stress and fear.

​A su vez, quisimos cambiar un poco la perspectiva con la que ellos ven las cosas, aunque parezca casi imposible. A través del dibujo y de un perro llamado Tsunami, pudimos cambiar el foco de todo lo que ocurrió en el país. Así que esta semana hemos recibido a los niños que han venido —que han sido pocos— con dibujos y distintas actividades para despejar su mente y sacarlos un poco del caos.

​At the same time, we wanted to shift their perspective a bit, even if it feels almost impossible. Through drawing and with the help of a dog named Tsunami, we were able to shift the focus away from everything that happened in the country. So this week, we welcomed the few children who attended with drawings and various activities to refresh their minds and pull them out of the chaos for a while.

​Aunque ellos no son totalmente conscientes a veces de la magnitud, el hecho de que nosotros los padres estemos tan inmersos en el teléfono hace que, sin querer, ellos oigan cosas y de alguna forma también les afecte. Por eso fue muy bueno verlos de nuevo, aunque anhelaría que todo estuviera en total normalidad, justo como antes del terremoto, y que esto nunca hubiera sucedido.

​Even though they aren't always fully aware of the magnitude of the situation, the fact that we parents are so absorbed in our phones means they unintentionally hear things, which affects them too. That is why it was so good to see them again, though I wish everything were back to complete normalcy, just like before the earthquake, and that none of this had ever happened.

​Pero bueno, digamos que no podemos hacer nada respecto a eso; más bien, nos toca ser una vía de apoyo y un espacio de escape para esos niños que asisten a clase. Les envío un abrazo fuerte y la mejor de las vibras a todos. ¡Nos vemos en una próxima oportunidad!
