Real farm situation taught me that not starting something at all is better than being inconsistent in it ¶ ||Consistency is a key element for success |¥|FPY(Farm Practical Year)

Consistency is key

To be a master of anything you must be able to spend at least 10,000hrs of practice, there's a lot to learn from Benjamin Franklin as i relate his quote to my personal life experience...He said consistency is key, this man invented swim fins, glass armonica, lighting rod and many other things.

Apart from being an inventor and scientist, the man was a writer and was part of political law makers, some people even give him credit for being the inventor of electricity.

Most people don't know the full quote,so here it is "Consistency is a key element, without which a leader is incapable of getting respect, success or even developing confidence in others"
~Benjamin Franklin~

Whatever it is you do,whatever you want to achieve,i believe that consistency must be part of the ingredients to being a success in that thing.

Okay here's the farm situation,we were told to plant melon at allocated plots,we planted melon after planting corchorus and amaranth and we've been graded for the amaranth and corchorus.

IMG_20211228_175211_486.jpg

Not sure if they would still grade the melon plot but anyways, the consistency of my group members and myself would have helped us achieve bigger and fresher looking melon....sticking to a plan to water the plants and not failing to do so would really have been key

IMG_20211228_171435_432.jpg

But not all members of my team stick to the plan,so because only half of us are consistent, though we still have very good melon but it is not as good as that of the group not far from us...even as we're on holiday, they still made arrangements to cater for the plants.

IMG_20211228_171420_253~2.jpg

It might have meant nothing to a lot of people, but I learnt the lesson of persistence and consistency from it...so to fill up for people who are not around,i decided to go to our melon plot today with a friend even though we were on holiday.

So we fetched water and watered the melon...i had earlier replanted some of them that did not germinate and a few of them have already sprouted.

I get it when we're busy sometimes and have things to do,but must it be everytime? We need to learn that consistency is key in almost every area of life

If you read my previous post you'll see that i talked about high quality input when it comes to learning something....whenever we want to read,we get started and get distracted which breaks the flow which means we're inconsistent with the flow and this affects retention time and ability to memorize.

IMG_20211228_174932_679.jpg

Let's talk of another example, say learning how to speak a new language, you will never be a master in that language unless you are consistent with it

Some scientist agree that to become a master at something, you must spend at least 10,000 hours of practice

see

We want many things but we do not want to be consistent doing those things that will give us what we want....

The challenge is to be consistent to the core, face real life situations like they are something very serious.

Those are great lessons to learn, consistency and persistence... my mother once told me if she could describe me with one word, it would be "tenacity"... you become tenfold through consistent, concerted effort. It takes intention and focus.

Your melon plant looks great. Once I saw the leaves, I thought... watermelon!

Wow,I'm glad you're that kind of tenacious person...it won't be bad to learn from you

Also it's not watermelon....😂😂😂 it's cucumis melon(the botanical name)

Thank you very much for stopping by and commenting

I thought Malcom Gladwell invented the 10,000 hour rule. Kidding! I love the analogy of gardening and yes, so true that it's better to be consistent in a few areas and really master them rather than being "sort of good" at a million different things. I was just reflecting today on how I had finally decided on a few key areas to focus and wasn't scattered in a million directions anymore, and then I almost signed up for some training session (and most likely a sales pitch) in a completely new area! But then I was like, "No, what are you thinking?" and stopped myself!

😂Malcom Gladwell...lmao
I'm glad you think so too
Go hard or go home...
Being consistent also has a lot to do with single tasking
Thank you for stopping by boss
Appreciate it
