Plans change, purpose remains

As a kid I wanted to become a doctor. I think this is because my mom wanted it for me, back then she always called me a doctor and reigned praises of a doctor so I just told myself that's what I'll become when I grow up. I later realised I couldn't stand in a place where medicine smells for a very long time and we know that's how hospitals smells.

I still pursued being a doctor thinking I could cope and it'll pass but I was just deceiving myself because the more I tried to ignore it, the stronger it became. That was when I started thinking, "How will I become a doctor if I cannot even stand the smell of medicine?"

Eventually life took me on a completely different path and directions. Today, I am a teacher. Honestly, if someone had told me when I was younger that I would become a teacher, I would have laughed and said it was a lie.

But here I am, teaching and learning every day. Teaching has shown me that sometimes our childhood dreams are not always where life is taking us. What matters is finding purpose in the path we finally choose. I may not have become a doctor, but I am grateful for where I am today.

When I think about the person in my family I am most like, I would say my younger sister. She is a truly hardworking and lovable person, and I see some of those qualities in myself. She is the kind of person who does not give up easily. Even when things are not going the way she wants, she keeps trying. I admire that about her because I also believe that hard work is important in life.

She is also very easy to love. She has a good heart and cares about people around her. Sometimes, when I look at her, I see parts of myself in her. We may not agree on everything, but there are certain things about us that are very similar.

Image is mine.

Surely you love what you are now? An awesome teacher. Being a teacher always has that positive vibe in it. You teach what you learned to others and I think thats really cool.

Yea, I love what I am, although it's not easy and we teachers aren't valued.
But I do love my kids, sometimes I want to quit but the thought of leaving them scares me.

I get exactly what you mean! I would never have guessed I'd be what I am today if you had asked me when I was much younger!

I am glad that you are happy in your chosen career. Thank you for sharing and have a lovely day! !LADY

That's it, most of us aren't where we thought we would be.

A Doctor is a fine goal until you find a better goal like a Teacher. We will never know for sure until the day comes when you discover your true passion @vickiee

If it's true passion that I am to pursue from the very beginning then furthering my education to the university would have been the least of my worries.

Not that I won't further but not so soon

You ended up doing what you love and it is clear you have a big heart and you are a perfect person to guide those kids of yours 😊
I always loved kids since I was a baby myself, always knew I wanted to work with kids... So I baby sat alot after school growing up and then became a preeschool teacher.

I Loove it but I know what you mean about our jobs arent rightfully valued, we work hard but never get enogh Credit for it. And in my Country the children groups have grown alot but we are still only 3 teachers which makes it hard to be able to see every kid as they deserve.

Thank you for sharing and for what you do for our future generation. You are amazing 🌹 cheers
