AI Isn’t the Enemy, We Are

Artificial intelligence since inception has been a mind-blowing tool that has helped us with lots of tasks that would have taken us hours to do prior to when we had artificial intelligence. Beyond that, artificial intelligence is advancing by the day, and now one can even use it to generate a pictorial replica of a person or even a make-believe video that'll also carry one voice, and the advent of this has made it quite difficult to know what is real from what isn't, due to its reality nature. The downside is how some people have delved into using this to create hyper-realistic, explicit videos and pictures of others to tarnish their image. What can we do to solve this issue? Should we make rules to curb artificial intelligence from doing such, or what's the solution?

To be honest, if I said I haven't seen such pictures or videos, then I'd be a liar, because I've actually seen them, and when I do, I'm always concerned about how the people whose faces are used would feel and the damage such can cause them. But then should we, because of that ban, use artificial intelligence or tag it as the enemy? In my opinion, that's not the way to go, because the truth of the matter is artificial intelligence is just a tool that's used for doing these things. The real culprits are the users who give these AI tools prompts or sets of instructions to generate what they generated; they're just following instructions, and we can't pin the blame on these tools, because in the event that there are no terrible prompts, they won't generate it in the first place.

And so in the light of that, humans, I believe, are the ones that need to be controlled, and if there's a need to nail someone or something as the enemy, then human users who give those prompts should be the ones tagged as the enemy. Because if we can all be reasonable, respect boundaries, and not do anything that might hurt our fellow humans, then we won't find ourselves in this place talking about this topic, so let's all make it a point of duty to respect others. If at all you'll use artificial intelligence to create something about them, it's either you seek their consent or create things that'll present them in good light, not one that'll destroy their reputation. If you do that and get persecuted, then you've no one to blame but yourself.

That being said, I think it'll be expedient to have some form of regulation introduced into artificial intelligence tools to prevent us from having to return to this conversation over and over again, and for that, I'll suggest that aside from the fact that humans should be reasonable and respectable in their usage of artificial intelligence for these things, still artificial intelligence needs some tweak in rule or regulations to prevent using it for explicit content that'll hurt someone else, and my suggestion is that maybe such an AI tool should have a verification segment to be sure you're the one wanting to create it yourself or someone else is just using it for their selfish gain. I'm talking about facial verification that asked you to do different kinds of things for it to be certain you're the one using your device for what you are asking it to do.

Overall, like I said, artificial intelligence isn't the enemy, and neither are they the culprit; they just find themselves mixed up in the fold while trying to perform the instructions humans have given them. They're just a tool, and humans should be the ones to carry the blame, but with responsible usage and a simple tweak in verification on the artificial intelligence tools, we might be able to avoid having artificial intelligence being used for items that'll be deemed explicit or wrong, which could hurt or tarnish someone else's reputation.
