CREATIVE SUNDAY || GUIDE ON PRESSING OUR ENGLISH AND CULTURAL ATTIRES

avatar

Before deciding to start this DIY project, I conducted a survey of some of my hive friends to find out their preferences for having their laundry done by a professional or by themselves. I discovered that most of them prefer to have their laundry done by professionals because they lack the knowledge necessary to properly press (iron) their clothes. Therefore, using my extensive knowledge and experience in this area, I decided to share a step-by-step guide on how to press cloth, be it an English dress or a traditional attire.

photoCollageMaker_20221016_223437378.jpg

Cloth press can be so tiring, but then the need to look good and Charming when stepping out is definitely worth all the stress, beside it's only tiring when you've a lot of cloth to press at a time, so whenever I've lot of cloth to press at the same time, I usually play wonderful songs to while away the time while I press the clothes.

So without further ado, let dive into the step by step process of cloth pressing.

MATERIAL NEEDED

  • Iron
  • Iron stand
  • Clean wrapper

PROCESSES

So to start with, I'll be sharing the process of how I press my English office wears;

  • For the shirt, I first press the collar of the shirt.
    IMG_20221016_140051.jpg
  • After this I press both sleeve of the shirt, the front and back of each in other to have a smooth surface.
    IMG_20221016_140523.jpg
  • I then press both side of the front part of side of the shirt, then I button up the shirt and iron the front of the shirt once more.
  • Once the front part is smooth enough, I turn the shirt over and press the back of the shirt, after which I folded few quarter of the shirt and press it, I fold the sleeve on it and did same on the other side.

  • After this I just folded up the shirt gradually and press each time a fold was made.

  • For the traditional attire, Its more or like same as the shirt, and the only difference is the fact that they usually don't have collar, so below are some pictorial process of the pressing.

That's about all about how to press our shirt and cultural attires, here are some other cloth I press during the previous of working on this post.

  • Apologies I tried as much as talk about the trouser ironing, but the uploading of the pictures weren't going through, so I had to make so with the available one's.

I hope my friends @sholex94 @burlarj @seunny and @b0s find this diy valuable and start working towards pressing their cloth by themselves.

I believe this will save them and everyone else huge amount of money and make them self sufficient as well.

Thanks for checking out my blog post, I hope you find this resourceful, have a blessed week ahead.

I didn’t think I needed this. Thanks man. I’ve never used an iron stand though. Unbelievable, I know. But true!

Smile well you can make do with any smooth surface, as it'll still do same thing as the iron stand.

Well done sir! I have learnt from it. I always have problem maintaining the lines on my corporate trousers. I don't know if I should always actively remove the lines then put them afresh or not.
But I have learnt something today
Thank you sir 😊

Thanks bro, it's good to know you've learn something from my Guide and I look forward to seeing you implement it.

The thing with the line is that, when you regularly press the same spot on the trouser, that line will take shape and get accustom to your choice, but that doesn't stop you from maintaining it .

This I really nice! You explained the whole process so well.
For someone like me who had to attend a boarding school, learning to press clothes was done the hard way😅. I'm still glad though because it made me quite skilled at it, but your method is one I'd like to try.
Thanks for sharing this!❤️

I learned how to iron clothes from my parents and cousins. With todays busy lifestyle, I am not wondering why there are many teenagers who don't know how to properly iron their clothes.

Great job making this instructional post. I know it is a very helpful article. Also, it's good to see how other people press their clothes. I also learned a bit about your cultural attire. 😊

Yea just like you, I learn it from my parents, but this generation of youth hardly learn anything and in the process spend on what is quite simple to do.

I'm glad this article was able to make you learn about my cultural wears and as well show you my style of ironing.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
