OUR FRIENDSHIP BEGAN ON A BAD NOTE : BUT NOW WE'RE INSEPARABLE.

avatar

Friends are like the salt of the earth; they make our world lively and grant us some of the most remarkable memories; they are always there to back us up and help in our times of need; we don't know who'll be our close friend, and these lead to many friendships starting in various ways, which could be positive, casual, or native, and today I'll share one of mine with y'all.

I've got a few close friends, but I've had many friends at various stages of my life; not all were privileged to graduate to being addressed as my close friends, but overall every friendship I've made started in different ways and on different notes, so basically I can share over 10 of these scenarios with you, but to save your time, I'll be sharing the first that came to mind after reading through the prompt topic.

So this article entails how my friendship began with a particular close friend of mine; it cuts across how we met, what the first encounter was like, and how we became the best of friends. I hope you'll enjoy the read when you're done.

It's all begun on a cool evening during my undergraduate days. We just returned from the church after the Digging Deep Bible Study Program, and I decided to follow one of my church members, who also happened to be my coursemate, to her hostel because I wanted to collect a handbook from her. Almost immediately after we entered her hostel, the unthinkable happened.

Immediately we stepped into her hostel, I overheard a familiar sound: one of her housemates was playing the sound of my favorite musician on her stereo. The song was still new, and I'd searched tirelessly on the internet to get it without being successful, so immediately after I heard the song, my leg drifted towards the room where the song was being played, leaving my friend behind and unaware of my diversion.

I almost didn't knock as I was about to step inside the room when the voice from inside startled me, so I knocked and was asked to come in immediately. I guess her instinct told her it could only be a lady since everyone staying in that hostel are ladies, but immediately I entered, she was surprised and shouted, so I rushed out, and that was when my friend noticed I was no longer behind her and followed the voice down to where I was.

It wasn't like she was stark naked, nor did I see anything odd; I guess the shock of seeing a male was just what warranted the shouting, and by the time she came out, it was obvious she wasn't pleased at all; she spoke angrily, and had anyone told me we'd end up as friends, I'd disagree, my friend apologized to her, and I collected the book I came for and left.

I guess after I left my friend and lady spoke and that's how she got to know I'm a diehard fan of the musician's song she was playing. The following day I went to apologize, and she was cool with me; she even invited me in, after which she sent me the song that caused the misunderstanding. After that, we talked more before I left.

From there the friendship began; she told me the musician is also her favorite; we later exchanged numbers and became the best of friends; we even joked about the first encounter, where I'd tell her she shouted like someone who was under attack, and she'd laugh about how I was shivering like a leaf by the riverside after she shouted.

It's a funny friendship that began on a bad note, but after getting to know each other through understanding and tolerance, we became the best of friends, and to this very day, after about 10 years, we still chat and talk about life in general.

That's about all on my first encounter with my friend Omobolanle, and it was prompted by the Hive Learners community writing contest, which is well stated in Kronia's post; do check it out to get more concrete information.

Thanks so much for your time, have a blessed and productive month of March ahead.

Sir Vic, are you sure you did not see something? Well...

Bolanle must be a nice person to still receive you the next day after such an awkward encounter with you.

But how come you didn't even think to mention that it was a guy coming in??😂 You were so locked in the music of your fav musician that you sorry gave someone's daughter a heart attack.

I'm curious. What song and musician?

Hehehe, I didn't see anything o 😉😉

Yes, she was indeed a nice person, I thought the first encounter have pave way for rift between us, but then it's all went well thanks to her kindness and understanding.

Hmm I really can't pinpoint the actual song, but it was sang by a Nigerian gospel musician known simply as Shola Allyson, she was and still remain my favourite musician.

she'd laugh about how I was shivering like a leaf by the riverside after she shouted.

Did you really shiver like this description? 😂😂, sorry I couldn't pass it by.

It only shows how deep your friendship with her became, which is cool even after your rough first encounter.

Omo I won't lie o, I was so scarred, I don't want a issue where someone would put a lie of rape or attempted rape on me, so I was shivering like someone who's at the verge of death.

Baba gets mind to go back again after that big shouting 😃😃
The effect of die-hard fans though.
I'm sure the friendship later leads to friends with benefits.

Maybe when HL comes up with the prompt, we shall hear the concluding aspect.

She even has a pretty name...omobolanle

I think that friendships that start on the wrong foot always last longer.
